What sign are you two?
We're Sagittarius,
born December 2nd.
Are you really twins?
Yes. We're identical twins, born 4 minutes apart.
What's your background?
Our father is an Israeli landscaper and our mother is an American rabbi (she
says there are many synagogues and Jewish texts with astrological references!).
We grew up in Detroit, Michigan and studied fine art at the
University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. After
moving to New York City to work in publishing, we began writing our first
astrology column at Teen People magazine.
How did you get into astrology?
In 1993, a friend gave
Ophi a computer-generated chart as a present, and we were amazed by its
accuracy. Ophi then found some free chart-making software online, and we
began calculating all our friends' astrological charts. We were amazed
how accurate they were, and have been practicing ever since.
Where can I find your horoscopes?
Our horoscopes now reach over 50 million people a month on MyLifetime.com, Brides.com,
Sirius Radio, Hellokitty.com and elsewhere.
Does being twins influence your astrology
ability?
Yes! As twins, we naturally tune into people's energy, because we're so used
to tuning into each other. We love figuring out what makes people tick.
Are you psychic?
Everyone is to a degree. A common myth about
astrologers is that we're muumuu-wearing fortune tellers with magic powers,
whose scary visions can seal your fate. Although there are people who
prey on clients' fears, professional astrologers are more like guides
or coaches. We help you see possibilties and opportunities ahead, avoid
pitfalls and understand yourself better. It's like taking the shortest
road to your dreams.
Do you do private readings?
Yes. You can find out more by clicking here.
What's a chart?
Your natal chart -- the snapshot
of the universe at the moment of your birth -- is like a blueprint, or roap
map, of your soul. When you're born, each planet is at a specific degree
of a sign, and falls in one of the zodiac's 12 houses. All of these factors
come together to foretell how you look, your natural strengths, your passions,
and the obstacles you could face.
What about free will?
As Sagittarians, we prize free will above all! Once our clients understand
their charts, they're free to make new choices. You are NEVER doomed
to any particular fate. You just may have to work harder to overcome certain
traits (like shyness, disorganization, etc.) that are strong in your chart.
How do you use astrology in your lives?
We use it to advise our clients and friends on how to navigate relationships
and challenging situations. Astrology is a great tool for dealing with people
with all kinds of personalities, especially the "difficult" ones.
It can also be preventive medicine. If you know where somebody's "buttons" are,
you can avoid pushing them.
Do you use astrology in dating?
Definitely! Ophi is proud to say she's dated guys of all 12 signs (for "research
purposes," she claims). Tali is a typical adventurous Sag when it comes
to love. She has often dated fellow explorers, like Aquarius and Libra guys.
Ophi is now married to a Taurus, and Tali is with an Aries.
Are some love combinations better than
others?
it depends. While dating someone of the same "element" (fire or
water, for example) might mean you have more in common, it could also be
so easy that you get a little lazy. Sometimes, dating a person whose sign
is quite different from yours can challenge you to grow. Read our article "The
Secret of Distance" to learn all about it.
Do you really believe this stuff?
Yes. Although we started out skeptical, once we explored, we found an amazing,
rich history. Astrology is an ancient science based in mathematical angles
and the tracking of planetary motion. It's been around for centuries, and
was practiced by the ancient Egyptians and Greeks, scientists Galileo and
Copernicus, many medieval popes, psychiatrist Carl Jung, and former president
Ronald Reagan. Medieval universities even had esteemed astrology chairs
in their departments.
What else do you do besides astrology?
We have a creative services business called Mediarology,
and we've done website and branding services for clients including Mario
Batali, Random House and The Learning Annex. We both like to draw, paint,
decorate, travel and write. Ophira gives speeces at high schools and colleges
about body image for her book Body
Outlaws, encouraging people to love themselves "through thick and
thin." Tali is a devotee of Burning Man, a weeklong utopian festival
in the desert. Karaoke is our
favorite way to blow off steam.
