MONTHLY OVERVIEW:

Get out and circulate! The Sun is in Taurus, your third house of communication and fresh ideas, turning your life into a social whirlwind until May 20. In fact, four planets are here for the first week of the month, a great time for pitches, coffee dates, brainstorming and parties. Double down on your business cards, because you’ll be passing them out right and left. (If you’re looking for hip designs, we recommend checking out moo.com.) Business and pleasure intertwine, so chat with strangers in line at the grocery store or while waiting for your morning double skim latte. Get out and explore your neighborhood (the third house rules local travel and events)—by foot or by bike!

May features two changemaking eclipses, and the first is May 9—a Taurus solar eclipse. You could hear exciting news near this date that opens up unexpected avenues. A conversation can lead to a big idea that changes the course of events in the next six months. If you work in media, television, writing or teaching, this eclipse is especially potent for you, since it falls in your expressive third house. Stay tuned for a message or a meeting of the minds and expect the unexpected.

You can rest your wings after May 20, when the Sun slips into Gemini, your fourth house of home and roots. Your focus turns inward and you can do a little late spring nesting now in preparation for the summer. If you’re in the United States and celebrating Memorial Day holiday, you’ll definitely want to be with family or your nearest and dearest, cooking up a storm, relaxing near water or just enjoying a long weekend to chill out. (And if you’re not in the U.S., plan to do plenty of these domestic things anyhow for the next month).

On May 25, the Sagittarius lunar eclipse brings gusts of change to your career and long-term goals. This is the grand finale of a two-and-a-half year series of eclipses on the Gemini/Sagittarius axis, which have been reshaping the balance between home and work, personal and professional. Both your living situation and your career may have gone through a series of shifts since December 2010, and you’re certainly playing a different role in both arenas by now. As May ends, you can graduate from this series of tests, hopefully feeling stronger and more certain of yourself as a person. Since the tenth house rules men and authority figures, your relationship with a father, husband, brother, boss or key male may also go through an unexpected evolution near this date. You could have an eye-opening conversation that makes you rethink all that you assumed up until now. Stay tuned, Pisces—this should be interesting!

LOVE & ROMANCE:

Nest away, Pisces. As love planet Venus moves through Gemini, your fourth house of home and family, you’re in a cookie-baking kind of mood. During this domestic time, you’re not looking for fancy dates out on the town (as much as you like your baubles and Louboutins). aquariusCozy up with your sweetheart, a homemade dinner (roasted pork loin with garlic and rosemary, perhaps) and a stacked Netflix queue. If you feel like being social, invite other couples over for a backyard barbeque, then start perfecting your potato salad recipe. Since the fourth house rules self-nurturing, spend time pampering yourself: indulge in languorous tub soaks with geranium-scented bath salts; spend more time on your beauty rituals, using soothing facial masks and luxuriating in your eye crème (like the award-winning Lumiere from Neocutis). Take off a layer of dead skin cells, too, using this guide to the best body scrubs: http://www.elle.com/beauty/makeup-skin-care/best-body-exfoliating-scrubs.

If you’ve been wanting to start a family, pregnancy and childrearing is now favored, as you’re in the maternal mood. Or, you might just want to spend more time with children. Whether you make mud pies or just put down the smartphone and listen to the little ones in your life, your own motherly longings are strong now. You’re craving familial connections of all kinds. So if you’re in a romantic quandary and need of advice, call on the female figures in your life. Or maybe you just want to hear the story of how your grandparents fell in love at the town soda fountain…just one more time. Your own love life is enriched when you situate yourself in the context of your family history and legacy. Just when you thought you were the first person in your family to have a thing for the leather-clad, Ducati-loving types, hearing tales about your great aunt’s amorous adventures in 1920s Paris puts everything into perspective.

With hot-to-trot Mars in Gemini, your third house of casual connections, you could end up in a spicy situation with a friend. Perhaps you’ve been one another’s “go-to” for any hiccups in your respective relationships, and now, while both of you happen to be available, you suddenly have an “a-ha!” moment: you don’t want to just unload your dramas on this person…you want to bring your entanglement to a whole new level. If you turn greener than the Wicked Witch of the West when your buddy tells you about a new crush, you might just make your move then and there, especially if the sexual tension between you two has been building for a while. And why not throw some caution to the wind? To nudge you in the line-crossing direction, consider these words from fellow Pisces Anais Nin, “And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”

MONEY & CAREER:

Put on that creative thinking cap and brainstorm! With all the planetary action in Taurus, your third house of communications, the ideas are coming a mile a minute. Keep your Moleskine or smartphone handy, so you can record these brilliant thoughts firing up your neurons. Your creativity is off the charts, as you’re able to weave together disparate threads of information. For example, in the morning, your barista mentions something about a fashion film, which reminds you of this amazing video, in which the designer used dancers, instead of traditional models, to display her wares: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=So54Ncl5hAg. Later in the day, when you’re brainstorming ways to pitch your latest health campaign, you come up with a similarly groundbreaking idea, to mix up the status quo. Inspiration is all around you, and the more stories and information that you can digest, the richer and more textured your message will become. Under this influence, you’re a master of spin, so don’t hesitate to use those powers of persuasion to refine your personal mission or to repackage a project in dire need of a makeover.

aquariusCircle May 9 on your calendar as a powerful date for meetings, pitches and interviews. That day, a solar eclipse in Taurus lights up your communication house brighter than a pinball machine. Speak with confidence, knowing that your articulate, witty ways will make an even greater impact than you might realize. As a Pisces, you have an innate understanding of how we are all connected and what’s brewing in the collective consciousness. Now, you have spot-on verbal skills to translate that deeper, sometimes ephemeral knowing into digestible narratives and projects. Take heart from the words of your Pisces brother Victor Hugo, author of Les Miserables, “All the forces in the world are not so powerful as an idea whose time has come.” Fueled by your razor sharp intuition, this day is excellent to launch a new marketing campaign, revamp old materials and spiff up your social media presence. Bring your glam factor to the Twitterverse, and you can’t miss.

Be careful of identifying too closely with your ideas this month, though. All month, fiery Mars is in Taurus, your third house of verbal exchanges, which could make you more argumentative than normal, especially if someone challenges a notion you hold dear. Instead of giving in to defensiveness, direct your passions in a more constructive manner. Find the right platform to express yourself, perhaps in a thoughtful blog post, a creative stream of Tweets or even a book. You have a lot of wisdom to share with the masses, and now, if you detach from the petty side of stresses, you can communicate it from a more soulfully driven (and therefore egoless) space.

The month ends with a powerful shakeup on the career front, as a May 25 full moon lunar eclipse in Sagittarius rattles the foundation of your professional tenth house. If you’ve been skirting some contentious issues, you may need to finally take a stand for your beliefs at your job. While you’re more apt to use your brains behind the scenes, this day offers a five-star opportunity to step into your considerable power and assume a leadership role. Perhaps you’re offered a surprise promotion, one that cements your standing as an expert in your field. Or, you could reach a point of no return, where you recognize the need to walk a completely new path. What served you two years ago, in terms of aspirations, probably doesn’t serve you anymore. So what if your colleagues think you’re being “flighty” for walking away from a seemingly gilded position? Your internal compass might confound those on the outside, but this turn of events is definitely guided by your higher self or principles…so don’t worry about how something looks. Around this date, you could have resolution or a lightening bolt revelation, one that helps you make sense of the gambles and decisions you’ve made over the last couple years.

Hindsight is helpful as you reflect on the constant flux your career has been in as far back as December 2010, when this eclipse series first began. You’ve been striving for the perfect balance between work and your personal life, or perhaps searching for a career that feels like a true “home.” Now, your vocation is far more integrated into who you are at your very foundation. Consider these words from Albert Einstein, a fellow Pisces: “Only one who devotes himself to a cause with his whole strength and soul can be a true master. For this reason mastery demands all of a person.” At the close of this eclipse series, you’ve reached master level, Pisces. Nice!

HEALTH: MIND, BODY & SOUL:

With all the planetary action in Taurus, your third house of socializing and mental activity, your over-active brain cells are abuzz. In fact, you could easily be a little high strung, making your fitness routine all the more critical to your wellbeing. To make exercise stimulating, partner up with a pal, possibly someone with whom you have a lot of story-swapping to do. Nothing passes the miles like hearing about your BFF’s latest family or work saga. Or, perhaps stock up on audio books and podcasts, to learn while you burn. Your mystical-minded sign might enjoy Krista Tippet’s On Being, an award-winning radio program that explores existence through intellectual and spiritual lenses. Or, if you like to imbibe, Wine for Normal People is a great way to learn more about vino “without the snobbery that goes with it:” https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/wine-for-normal-people/id413879919.

The month ends with a powerful lunar eclipse in Sagittarius, your tenth house of men and long-term plans, on May 25. Your relationship with your father or a father figure might go through an important evolution. Whether you feel overly protective of your dad or bitter because your paternal influence was lacking in some way, you could have an important conversation that resolves a longstanding issue between you. Maybe this is the turning point between you, where you release that perfect (or fatally flawed) Daddy projection that has made an authentic relationship impossible. Around this date, you could have a conversation that resolves a longstanding issue between you, offering some perspective and forgiveness. Next up: your Pisces Weekly Horoscope >
