MARCH 2010

MONTHLY OVERVIEW:

March is an intense and emotional month for many Leos—oh, the drama. You might as well make like a bear and hibernate until spring officially starts. That would be on March 20th, when the Sun leaves moody Pisces and moves into fiery Aries, turning you from a slug into a superstar overnight.

Until then, paint your fingernails black, scribble down angry poetry, or brood over the one who got away. Let all those heavy-duty feelings have their moment on the stage. Applaud them, toss rose petals, then move the heck on.

Things actually start looking up on March 10th, when sexy, passionate Mars ends a long retrograde (backward) trip through Leo. Since December 20th, your energy just hasn’t been at its normal, frenetic level—and Leo, you’ve been missed. You’re back on the fast track until June. All the more reason to dump that drama: You’ve got fans to court, hands to shake and babies to kiss. It’s time to take action and make bold decisions again. The clock is ticking…go!

LOVE & ROMANCE:
The first week of March can best be summed up as “it’s complicated.” While love-planet Venus wraps is tour of Pisces, you may be sorting through some layered emotions, perhaps related to a breakup or painful betrayal in your past. Work through the feelings as best as you can, but don’t drown in them. The March 15th Pisces new moon is an important day to fully experience your emotions, then release them. For some Leos, this new moon sets off a deepened chapter of intimacy—including a possible engagement or pregnancy. Love, when it’s real, isn’t always pretty. But there’s beauty in being so deeply intertwined with another human soul. Let yourself experience that.

On the 8th, Venus moves into Aries, your ninth house of adventure and the higher mind. You’re finally able to see your situation from a broad perspective, rather than through the lens of blame and resentment. By freeing the other person from being the target of your hurt, you actually free yourself. Check out the book Radical Forgiveness by Colin Tipping for a powerful take on this. It’s not worth it to hold on.

Besides, Leo, there’s fun to be had while Venus is in Aries. The ninth house rules travel and cross-cultural relationships, so single Leos could enjoy an international affair—a lovely way to start off spring. When red-hot Mars returns to full-speed motion on the 10th, you’ll realize just how many options you have. If you’re still schlumping around in baggy winter-wear, make an effort to polish up your look and bring back that sexy edge. The next three months are full of passion and promise—and you won’t want to miss out by clinging to the past.

MONEY & CAREER:
Just in time for tax season, the Pisces sun settles its rays on your eighth house of wealth and joint finances. It’s an important month for dealing with your money, especially any debt, assets or real estate. Book time with your accountant, especially near the March 15th Pisces new moon. Leo, there may actually be good news about your tax returns this year. And if not—well, what can you learn from the experience? Your sign loves to splurge, and while you can clip coupons with the best of ‘em, you can also turn a blind eye to those little expenses that start to add up. The Pisces new moon sets off a six-month cycle that’s opportune for learning new financial habits and making your hard-earned cash work for you.

A personal project gets a burst of energy when motivational Mars goes direct in Leo on the 10th. You’ve been feeling stalled around your own initiatives all year, but no more. Like a guided missile, Mars gathers and directs your focus, giving you ambition in spades. Between now and June, put yourself on the map as a power player. Although you may be working with a group of investors, silent partners or supporters, be clear—this is your gig, Leo. It’s time to see your name in lights. So what if you have to screw in the bulbs yourself? Get busy and make it happen.

HEALTH: MIND, BODY & SOUL:
With Mars going direct in Leo on the 10th, you’ve got the energy to kick off a serious spring fitness plan. Don’t just focus on your appearance, though. Healing comes from the inside out, especially now. The Sun and new moon in Pisces focus on your internal eighth house, making this a good month for a cleanse or a short, detoxing fast. If you’re not up for that, try drinking fresh juice a few times a week or adding more fiber and organic produce to your diet. If you’re due for a checkup, this is a good month for shots, blood tests and all the necessary procedures that ensure your systems are running smoothly.

On March 29th, the Libra full moon heralds an important conversation, possibly with a friend, colleague or sibling. You can’t bite your tongue anymore, Leo, so put it out there. However, it’s worth taking the time to be diplomatic. You might want to draft your communication in an email, then run it by a trusted person for feedback. The important thing is to make sure your message really gets across, without making anyone feel defensive or attacked. Next up: your Leo Weekly Horoscope >
