MONTHLY OVERVIEW:
It’s time to grow up, Libra—and to get your act together like never before. While you’re capable of true greatness, there are also parts of your life languishing in fuzzy, amorphous neglect. Now, it’s time to toughen up these “soft spots.” Saturn, the planet of maturity and discipline, is visiting Libra for the next three years. This cycle began on October 29th, dropping you squarely into cosmic boot camp. While it won’t always be a joyride, you’ll emerge with an impenetrable character and a spit-polished shine to your life.

One habit to adopt now? Decisiveness. When you sense conflict, your instinct is to run, avoid, accuse or lapse into denial. Reset your compass, and plunge into your fears instead. Yes, it requires a level of discomfort and risk—even occasional public embarrassment. You might do a face-plant in front of your nemesis, lose money, feel dizzyingly out of control. Dust off and get back on the field. Remember: deciding not to decide is still a decision—one that paralyzes rather than empowers you.

Decision-making is a habit, and habits take twenty-one days to form. With the Sun visiting your second house of daily structures, work and money until November 21st, you’ve got the perfect three-week window to start. You may see results fast, in the form of job offers, increased cashflow and new friends. Celebrate these affirmations, and keep going!

LOVE & ROMANCE:
Your ruler Venus, that planetary punch-drunk lover, is acting more like the school principal than the kid who spikes the refreshments. It’s time to bring some discipline and order to romance. Sound like a contradiction? Libra, you’re a starry-eyed poet when it comes to love, but guess what: relationships take work, just like everything else. A lazy part of you hopes that with enough cuddling, cooing and lash-batting, some white knight will want to take care of you forever. Who cares if you don’t really like him much? At least you’re not alone.

Seriously, aren’t you tired of that yet? You will be soon. With strict Saturn in Libra until October 2012, you’ll learn to depend on yourself like never before. Libra, it’s nobody else’s job to make you feel like a whole person, so stop waiting for some mythic hero to do your spiritual work. Skim Ralph Waldo Emerson’s essay Self Reliance—the timeless paen to independence and its joys. (“Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string.”) As you cultivate self-reliance, your capacity for mature love grows.

On November 2nd, the Taurus full moon illuminates your eighth house of intimacy. By intimacy, we mean the willingness to be emotionally naked; to be viewed in less than ideal form, exactly as you are and aren’t. This moon reveals how much you’re willing to trust and connect with a partner. Where do you scurry into yourself, lash out or put up a fight? Intense emotions could emerge around this moon, and there could be engagements, breakups, pregnancies, cohabitation and other big events. Listen to your soul—not just your heart—and make a choice that serves the highest good of everyone involved.

MONEY & CAREER:
It’s a nice, steady month for your career, with lots of opportunity. The Sun and several planets visit Scorpio, your second house of work and finances. On the 9th, your ruler Venus enters Scorpio for three weeks. Plant yourself at the Ritz during cocktail hour and schmooze that straight-laced suit nursing a Scotch at the bar. Still waters run deep, and you know how to draw out people’s hidden facets. Be your charming self, and you’ll leave with a new connection.

The Scorpio new moon on October 16th is an opportune day to network, schedule job interviews or increase your income. Just don’t resort to flirtation and seduction, an unconscious habit of your sign. With manipulative Neptune squaring this moon, you or someone else could toe the line of appropriateness. Insist on above-board behavior—a date is not a prerequisite for landing a plum account.

On November 2nd, the Taurus full moon highlights your sector of joint finances, investments and property. You may buy or sell real estate, pay off debt, or score a serious cash windfall. Divorces can be finalized at this moon, and you might split up assets with an ex. A partner, either romantic or professional, may want to combine assets in some way. Draw the proper legal documents to protect you both—unsexy as a prenup or written contract might seem. With stressful Mars squaring this moon, you could feel pressured to hastily sign away your rights. Think ahead: relationships can go sour without clear agreements, especially when money is involved.

HEALTH & FITNESS
This is the month to evaluate your health habits and replace the bad ones. Of course, as the sign of balance, you must not go to extremes. Cutting out entire food groups, for example, might work for a few months, but it will surely be followed by a massive bingefest on the evil carb or demonic sugar—especially at Thanksgiving. With the Sun in your practical second house unti the 21st, moderation is key.

On the 21st, the Sun moves into Sagittarius, your third house of communication. Keep a food and exercise journal, hire a trainer or buddy up with a friend for workouts. You’ll see twice the results by putting things in writing and getting support. Energetic Mars is in Leo, your eleventh house of group activity and humanitarian causes until June 2010. How about training for a triathlon or the AIDS ride if you’re feeling ambitious? If that’s too intense, try a walk to fight breast cancer or environmental destruction.
