Monthly Horoscope:

Virgo (August 23-September 22)

November 2008

Family—that loaded-gun of an “f-word”—is about to undergo a major transformation for you, Virgo. We’re not kidding. For the last 13 years, your relationship to home and family has been intense, forcing you to reckon with a few of your own demons.  That’s because Pluto, ruler of inner work and core-level change, has been in your fourth house of home and family since November 1995. On November 27, Pluto will move from Sagittarius into Capricorn, ending this long cycle and beginning a new one.

Like a sweeping fire that burns away all that no longer serves you, Pluto destroys in order to heal. Its lessons are harsh, but leave us permanently transformed. Over the past 13 years, you may have had to grieve the loss of a family member, or reconfigure the power dynamics with an important relative. You may have renovated your home from the ground up, moved, started a family of your own, or in some way had major, life-altering events in your domestic sphere. The fourth house rules women, and you’ve met both powerful allies and intimidating enemies here.

Parents have been a major theme of this 13-year cycle, and as it draws to a close, you’ll want to seriously evaluate how you deal with yours. Whether they’re alive, passed away, or total strangers, your parents have an indelible imprint on you. Virgo, have you forgiven your parents for their imperfections? Or are you still in being destructive or self-sabotaging to “show them” or teach them a lesson?

A wise teacher once said: wherever you refuse to succeed in life, you’re punishing one of your parents.  Interesting perspective, and whether you agree or not, it merits a look during this Pluto transition. After all, your relationship with your parents is the foundation for any intimate partnership.

On the 27th, Pluto will move into Capricorn and your fifth house of romance, creativity and children, staying until 2023. Better to settle any lingering issues than bring the drama into your love life. If you’ve been putting up with imbalanced power dynamics, you won’t be able to suppress your anger a minute longer. Wherever you’ve forsaken passion, romance and play—that era is over. It’s time to live out loud, Virgo! You have needs, desires, and a powerful creative force within you that can heal the planet.

Virgo, you’re a natural healer, and you know it. You’re the sign of service, but somewhere along the way, you may have mistaken “service” to mean sacrifice. So not true! In fact, it’s the very opposite. Your divine light radiates through your artistic creation and personal expression. By withholding joy or creativity in order to appear “nice,” you’re denying people what you really have to offer. So sing, paint, write, speak up, laugh and honor your desires. You’ll give others permission to do the same—and you could transform their lives more than you even realize.

The price of admission? You’ll have to give up some control. Yes, we know it’s hard for you, but you’ll be infinitely rewarded. Learn to drink pleasure from the present moment, instead of worrying about how it will all turn out.

At the November 13 full moon, you’ll get a sneak preview of how adventurous life can be when you let go. Take this day to really tune into your biggest vision. Let yourself get inspired. With romantic, artistic Venus in Capricorn from November 13-December 8, your playful spirit rises up. Don’t be surprised if your dance card fills up fast!

More good news comes to your love life later this month, too. On November 28, unpredictable Uranus ends a five-month retrograde (backward) cycle in your committed relationship sector. If your partnerships have been unsteady or full of jarring surprises, you can expect more stability. Many Virgos started the year on a romantic high, or forging ahead on joint projects. Although many of these new ventures got back-burnered since June, Uranus direct (forward) turns up the heat again. You can happily end the year moving forward with exciting alliances and adventurous joint projects. Who knows? You could find yourself saying a sudden “I do” or inking an exciting deal before the year is over.
