Monthly Horoscope:

Sagittarius (November 23-December 21)

November 2008

You can make it! You can do it! Do you feel like you’re in the final stretch of a marathon, Sag? You are. Every possible direction you could be pulled in—family, work, friends, home—is stretching you out like a taut rubber band that’s about to snap. Not only are you wrapping up a lot of projects and issues from a long, laborious year, but a 13-year life cycle is also coming to a close. Sound intense? It is!

On November 27, powerful Pluto, the planet of deep transformation, will leave Sagittarius, where it’s been since 1995, never to return in your lifetime. All those tremors with the economy and election? We chalk them up to the rumblings of Pluto, foreshadowing its major move. Since the summer, Pluto has been giving you a final blast of self-transformation. As you read this, you may be thinking: who the hell am I anymore? What am I doing with my life and where am I going? The answers, which usually come to you quickly and in abundance, now seem distant and inaccessible.

Sagittarius, fear not: you haven’t lost yourself. If anything, you’ve shed skins that no longer match the person you’ve become. Serendipitously, a friend just gave us a CD that chronicles the caterpillar’s journey to become a butterfly. As Sagittarians ourselves, we appreciate her accidental foresight. Those beating new wings are about to burst right through your cocoon into true freedom, Sag—beyond what you’ve ever imagined!

So what’s next? Pluto enters Capricorn on November 27, your second house of money and self-worth. Your ruling planet Jupiter has been in Capricorn all year, giving you a gentle preview. Throughout 2008, you’ve evolved your attitude about finance, your earning power and how much you value yourself. Sagittarius, you’re generous with your resources, but you may have found yourself putting up boundaries, especially with people who took more than they gave. This was an important lesson that will prepare you for Pluto’s more extreme tour of your money sector.

As of the 27th, Pluto will be in Capricorn until 2023. Think: economic reform. In other words, you may completely and utterly revamp what you do for a living. Revolutionary projects related to self-esteem, beauty, art, finance, or the environment could call to you. The second house also rules your daily environment. Your lifestyle could completely change, either through a move to a new city (or country), different choices about how you allocate money, or a variety of possibilities. One thing’s for sure, though: change is ahead…and it’s got dollar signs in its eyes!

The key? If you feel something is being taken away from you, don’t hold tight. Pluto often comes in like a giant wrecking ball, destroying what no longer serves us. As our friend Amanda’s mom likes to say, if there’s an earthquake beneath your feet, stand still. Don’t run, freak out, panic or fight. This, too, shall pass. Like Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, you’ll be carried away to an enchanting new place.

The majority of November should be spent completing any project, commitment or agreement that no longer aligns with who you are. In fact, several planets are in Scorpio, ruler of your twelfth house of endings. If there was ever a time to get through the final stretch, it’s now. The twelfth house rules sleep, healing and retreat, so don’t panic if you find yourself needing a few extra hours of rest. Decompression and letting go are essential. By the end of the month, you’ll be back full force.

If you’re on a health kick or trying to get organized, the Taurus full moon on November 13 will help you get into top shape. If you’ve got stuff to purge or energy to burn, mid-month is an important time to get organized and clear the decks. And if you’ve been working on your health over the last six months, you’ll really see positive benefits now more than ever. It’s a great time to schedule a checkup with the doctor. A clean bill of health is likely!

Now, back to November 27—the day you want to circle in hot pink on your calendar. Along with the Pluto transit, the Sagittarius new moon also falls on this date. Sag, this is like your personal New Year. The goals you set on this day carry extra power, so consider this date an opportunity to begin a brand-new chapter. Ask yourself: where do I want to be in six months? Break down your goals into a few small actions and begin now. You’ll have the help of motivational Mars, which is in Sagittarius November 17-December 28. You’ll be glad to have your usual mojo back!

Your domestic life also stabilizes at month’s end. Erratic Uranus, planet of surprises and change, has been retrograde (backward) in your fourth house of family and home since Memorial Day. Relaxing at home has barely been an option—if your work schedule and other obligations didn’t prevent it, then other lifestyle changes did. If you were moving or selling property, Uranus could have thrown some wrenches in the work. An important female family member, likely a mother or daughter, could have been part of the instability. Although the bumpy road to change has been for the best, you’re recovering from the metaphorical whiplash. Sag, you deserve a medal of honor—and a rest! At last, you’ll get it.

In love, a steamy, secret affair is possible, thanks to the mysterious twelfth-house energy brought on by the Sun, Mercury and Mars in Scorpio. With love-planet Venus in Sagittarius through November 12, you could attract a lot of admirers. Just make sure their attentions are above-board. The twelfth house rules hidden agendas, and you may not be thinking as clearly as you could. If you find yourself drawn to someone, take a moment of consciousness to review your intentions—and theirs. If you sense any red flags, don’t brush the feeling aside. Your intuitive powers are on point now, so tune in to your body sensations as a guide. Don’t give your trust away to just anyone!

Sagittarius, huge things are ahead, and next month, an even clearer picture will emerge. Hang tight, delay important decisions if you can, and do the inner work to allow yourself to fully embrace change. Like it or not, it’s coming!
