Monthly
Horoscope:
Leo (July 23-August 22)
November 2008
Change is in the air, Leo, in both your personal and professional life. You’re shifting from soft focus into sharp, defined edges and boundaries. Although it’s far from your usual style, you’ll grow to like how powerful you feel.
If relationships have been hazy or undefined, that could all change this month. On November 2, Neptune, planet of illusions, ends a five-month retrograde (backward) cycle. While you may have had a dreamy fantasy romance over the summer and Fall, defining the relationship hasn’t been easy. While it’s been fun to let the winds sweep you, you may want things a little more spelled out in your partnerships now. If you’re in a relationship, Neptune retrograde could have stirred up old fears or lingering mistrust with a mate, or found you shouldering much of the emotional work. When Neptune goes direct (forward) on the 2nd, this all gets a lot easier.
Family and domestic matters occupy your attention at the first half of the month, but not for long. On November 13, a brilliant full moon lights up your career sector. An important chapter of your professional life reaches a peak. You may have an “a-ha” moment about what you really want to do for a living, or you could score a career victory. If a project has been dragging out, you could put the finishing touches on it and move on—whew! A promotion or well-deserved recognition could land in your lap. One thing’s for sure: you won’t be hiding out in an anonymous cubicle. Put yourself out there and play big!
You’ll want to wrap up work before the end of the month, Leo, because a major cosmic event will change your lifestyle forever. On November 27, transformational Pluto shifts from Sagittarius into Capricorn—its first transit into a new sign in 13 years. This slow-moving celestial body may be a “dwarf planet” in astronomers’ eyes, but its force field is mighty.
Since 1995, Pluto has been in your fifth house of romance and creativity. Pluto can be volatile and extreme, bringing abrupt beginnings and endings that force you to reckon with your innermost self. Although it can seem harsh, sometimes it takes a shakeup to make us look within. If your motives have been selfish, Pluto may have delivered a painful wakeup call.
The fifth house is ruled by Leo, making this Pluto cycle extra intense for you. You may have had a few crash-and-burn romances before meeting “the One.” Plutonian relationships are often colored by themes of domination and submission, those dark power dynamics that get played out in our relationships. (Interestingly, Leo Madonna announced her divorce near the end of this Pluto cycle.) Uncomfortable, even unsettling—that’s the nature of Pluto. Creative projects may have faltered or failed in order to force you to be more artistic, to go deeper before sharing your work. The fifth house rules fertility, so if you had trouble with children or pregnancy, your luck could finally change.
When Pluto leaves this sector, you’ll find yourself freed up to express your creativity, to date without drama, and to unleash your true artistry. Your next mission? Revolutionizing your health. Pluto moves into your sixth house of health, fitness and service on November 27, staying until 2023. You will come to understand the mind-body connection like never before. Any health issues that arise will be deeply linked to subconscious baggage, inner turmoil and toxic emotions that need to be cleared. (Pick up Louise Hay’s You Can Heal Your Life for a comprehensive list of what almost any illness or disorder represents psychologically.)
What’s the hidden blessing? Leo, whatever you’re holding onto that manifests as un-wellness is something you need to release. We’re not saying you’re going to get sick—and we certainly hope you don’t! However, even heightened stress, aches and pains or even nagging little feelings are messages from your subconscious. Consider it a gift (in Pluto’s weird packaging) that you’re finding this out now. The knowledge will help you make important lifestyle changes.
As the saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. How can you make this Pluto cycle into an opportunity? Think in terms of service. Leo, you’re the King or Queen of the jungle, but even a leader serves her royal subjects. You have a powerful mark to leave behind on this world. You’ve moved from a period of indulgence into one of sharing and giving. If your work is not improving people’s lives, Pluto will force you to rethink your vision. You need to be deeply inspired by the way you spend your days. Discover the difference you want to make in the world and go for it.
Our advice? Give more than you take, listen more than you talk, be humble rather than proud. As the saying goes, ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country. A 90-year-old relative, complimented on being a fascinating person (which she was), once said a remarkable thing. Instead of saying “thank you,” she countered in her thick German accent, “Sometimes, people call you interesting when you’re really just a good listener.”
Leo, these wise words have never been more true for you. Tune in to your heart and operate from there. Your sign rules the heart, and you can never go wrong by following its guidance.
