Monthly Horoscope:

Leo (July 23-August 22)

MAY 2008

Your financial life has been in flux, and you couldn’t be more sick of it. Good news, Leo: there are brighter days ahead. In September, tough teacher Saturn entered your money sector, forcing you to stick to a budget and pay your dues. Many Leos switched jobs or assumed greater responsibility at work. It’s been exciting, but for many Leos, it’s also driven up internal fear and self-doubt—not a comfortable place for your sign!

If your work life has felt like quicksand, here’s why: Saturn has been retrograde (backward) since December 19, forcing you to rethink what you really want to do from 9 to 5 every day. If a job search has been fruitless, it was Saturn’s harsh way of telling you: you’re playing too small.

Leo, you rarely back down from a challenge. However, the second house also rules self-worth. Saturn has rattled your confidence, making your normally secure sign wonder things like, “Maybe I’m not as good as I think I am” or “What’s wrong with me?” Pause the drama right there. You are being forced to connect with yourself at a core level—to build a foundation based on inner strength rather than ego, bravado, popularity or putting on a really good show. Those strategies will never take you the distance that you’re capable of going.

Fortunately, the planets are back on your side. On May 3, Saturn resumes direct (forward) motion. Take your tail out from between your legs and get back on the playing field. Resubmit your resume and scan the job listings all week. On May 10, you get a huge shot of cosmic support from Mars, the planet of energy and motivation. Mars enters Leo that day and stays until July 10. Not only will your phone ring again (with good news), but you’ll attract some dynamic people who are eager to support your cause.

But wait—there’s more! Also on May 10, a New Moon falls in your career sector, demarcating a brand new six-month cycle for your work life. This moon joins forces with Venus, the planet or beauty, art and romance. Venus is the “attractor,” so don’t be surprised if a high-profile executive type notices you…in more ways than one. It’s also an important time to examine your “career gear.” Do your hairstyle, makeup routine and wardrobe express the image you want to convey? If not, talk to an image consultant or use your innate sense of style to design a new look.

Beyond the surface, it’s also time to examine your health and fitness. Lucky Jupiter visits this part of your chart for all of 2008, inspiring Leos to take on clean living and get in shape. On May 2, Jupiter goes retrograde until September, tempting you to fall back into old habits or blow off your workouts. Counter this by building in extra support, like a gym buddy, a mentor, or a nutritionist. It’s also a good time to schedule annual physicals and dental exams, and review your fitness goals. Make sure they’re not overly ambitious (like most things you do, Leo), and don’t let an occasional setback get you down. It’s all part of the process.

You’ll want your strength for the Full Moon on May 19, which falls in your sector of home and family. Is it time to move, Leo? Domestic matters demand your full attention now. Because this is a “blue moon” (the second in a row) in this part of your chart, think back to a month prior, around April 19.

This moon will form a tense angle with the Sun and Neptune, so this domestic issue will somehow play into both your career and your relationship. You may receive a work assignment that includes travel or relocation, which could force you to rework things with your sweetie or cut into family time. For some Leos, difficulties in your relationship might make you consider a trial separation or a temporary move-out to evaluate whether you share the same goals and priorities.

If you’re moving, you may be reluctant to sign a lease or work contract because of a gut feeling that you should “try before you buy.” Perhaps you sense shady intentions on the part of a broker, boss or agent. You simply may not want to be locked into restrictive terms. Another possibility is that you feel caught between your romantic partner and your parents—perhaps your family doesn’t approve of your mate, or decides to weigh in on your lifestyle without being asked.

Although there could be a tense few days around this Full Moon, once you reach the “breaking point,” the outcome will be amazing. Juggling the demands of home, family, career and a relationship can be incredibly stressful—especially all at once. Remember Leo, you want to have it all. It will benefit you to pause and make sure each of these areas of your life runs smoothly and in sync with the other.

At month’s end, Mercury, planet of communication, goes retrograde in your eleventh house of groups and friends. Turn to your roster of contacts and old organizations. Rejoin a sports team or club, and get back in touch with people who’ve known you through the years. They will be your champions as you take on what promises to be an energetic summer full of dynamic change.
