Horoscope:
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
MAY 2008
With lucky Jupiter in your seventh house of committed relationships all year, your love life is promising. There’s one caveat, though. You must be willing to stretch beyond your comfort zone. For your sign, that can be a challenge. You love to hide in your safe little crabshell, and tend to be risk-averse in matters of the heart. Cancer, you’ve outgrown that box. Take a chance!
Start by opening your mind. Jupiter rules people from other cultures or backgrounds, so your soulmate might not look the way you’d imagined. S/he might even be from another country! If you can set aside the picture in your head of your “ideal” match, you’ll create space for an amazing partner to appear. Guess what? This could be someone you already know. On May 10, Jupiter will go retrograde (backward) until September, which brings back the past. An old partner could resurface, or somebody from your circle could turn out to be the love of your life.
On the other hand, if you’re hanging on to a relationship that no longer works, it may be time to part ways. Not sure? The retrograde period from May 10-September 8 would be a good time to try couples counseling, or to take a trial separation. You may just need a cooling-off period to get clear.
Other Cancers could find themselves with a marriage proposal once Jupiter goes direct. Since Jupiter rules long-distance travel, you could be planning a destination wedding. Or, you could take your sweetie back home to meet the family. With a May 19 Full Moon falling in your romance house, Cupid will definitely be paying special attention to you, Cancer!
After May 3, examine your communication style. Have you been complaining or gossiping? Your words have a powerful impact, Cancer, so it’s time to take responsibility for the impression you leave on people. The things you say—or the unsaid things you hold back—have a momentous impact on you now. Weighty Saturn is in your third house of communication, giving your words extra power. You can use them for tremendous good or to take down the whole mothership. That may seem dramatic, but try bringing a little more awareness to what you say.
A teaching assignment, which you could be offered this month, might be just what reminds you, Cancer: you’ve got something important to share! Even if you’re just showing a new co-worker the ropes or training a junior staffer, passing along knowledge will show you how much you’ve learned.
A sibling rivalry could also ease off under Saturn’s spell. It’s so easy to carry childhood dynamics into adulthood, but it’s time for a more grown-up relationship with a brother or sister. S/he’s not that person who stole your Barbie dolls or teased you mercilessly anymore, so why relate to your sib that way? By next year, you could even be close confidantes if you take a step now.
In other news, motivator Mars will leave your sign on May 10, which will be something of a relief. Mars has been in Cancer since early March, and while it’s certainly made you feel like a rock star, it’s probably kept you burning the candle at both ends, too. Mars is the warrior planet, and that aggressive “yang” energy can clash with your more “yin,” nurturing nature. Still, you’ve got to admit: the kick in the pants didn’t hurt. Hopefully you started speaking up for yourself and putting yourself out there. Now Mars, moves into your second house of income and daily environment. Don’t let money stress thwart you—use it as motivation instead. Go ahead and ask for that raise. If you’re a freelancer, it may be time to increase your rates. You’re worth it! Mars will remind you between now and July 10.
Also, look around at your workspace. Pretty touches are nice, but too much of that flowy energy can make you lazy. Hang college degrees or symbols of your accomplishments. Burn a candle to bring some “fire” energy into your work environment. Take a page from feng shui, too. When you stand in the doorway or entryway of your work area, notice what’s in the farthest left corner. In feng shui, that’s your “money corner.” (Sounds superstitious, but Ophi used to have a dying plant in hers—not a healthy symbol for prosperity regardless!) Place something there that inspires whatever you want to manifest. Good luck!
