Horoscope:
Aries (March 21-April 10)
MAY 2008
Your mind’s on your money as May begins, and with good reason. On May 5, a New Moon falls in your income sector. A new job opportunity or income source could arrive out of the blue. Even if it doesn’t, it could be time for a new source of cash. Update your resume, or scan the job listings.
The sooner you do this, the better, because on May 10, lucky Jupiter will go retrograde (backward) in your tenth house of career until early September. Jupiter has been here since December 2007, bringing you exciting opportunities to jump into a high-profile or leadership position. During the retrograde, Jupiter goes into “rest” mode, so the goodies won’t land in your basket with the same velocity.
Of course, retrogrades are also times to return to the past. Call up an old boss or mentor and ask for help with your job search. You might even return to a company you worked for in the past. If you started a business, go back to the drawing board and use the summer to tighten up plans, or write a business plan. Aries, you love to dive into everything headfirst, with the whole scheme mapped out in your head. During Jupiter retrograde, put it on paper, too. Just because you can see the whole picture, doesn’t mean anyone else can. Remember, nobody’s a mind reader. Taking that extra time could help you see a key detail you may have overlooked in your haste.
May 10 is a big day for Aries for another reason: your ruling planet, Mars, moves into Leo. Ah, sweet relief! Mars has been in Cancer since March 5, making you a bit of an emotional wreck over the past two moths. You may have had extra demands with your home and family, or felt pressed into service as everyone’s caretaker. Perhaps there’s been tension with your mother or a key female figure. Since Mars has been “square” (a tense, 90-degree angle) to your Aries Sun, this has been an especially challenging period.
Mars in Leo will be like night and day. Playful Leo rules your fifth house of romance and creativity. You’ll be downright magnetic, attracting admirers with ease. This cycle lasts until July 12, so make the most of it. Assertive Mars is the planet of action, so don’t sit back and wait to be noticed. Put yourself out there, too. Update your online dating profile, ask friends to set you up, and flirt shamelessly.
The fifth house also rules pregnancy, and Mars will make you extra fertile. If you’ve been trying to get pregnant, you need no further instructions from us. But if you’re not, take extra precautions or you could end up with a bun in the oven.
A creative project could also get a boost of cosmic support now. If you’re an artist, playwright or performer, this a great time to nurture your craft. Marketing and promotion of your work is vital if you want to be noticed. Push yourself to send demos, pitches or a press release to an influential contact. Jupiter retrograde may slow down their response time, so don’t despair if you don’t hear back immediately. Imagine that you’re sowing seeds for your future success.
If you’ve felt sluggish or fallen into old habits, on May 3, your health and fitness efforts will get back on track. Disciplined Saturn has been retrograde for a few months, making it hard to stick to a schedule or feel like you’re running at full tilt. Your health might have been weakened, or an old condition could have flared up. Saturn’s move into “direct” (forward) motion will help you organize your life and restore your vitality.
Speaking of health, did you know that pets are proven to reduce blood pressure and contribute to our well-being? Saturn is in the part of your chart that also rules pets, so bringing a furry friend into your life could be an amazingly maturing experience for you. While you may be challenged initially by the demands of parenting a little creature (paper training! walks! scratching the furniture!), the skills you gain will actually set you up for success in every other part of your life. Sounds funny, but Saturn is a teacher that rewards us for taking on learning experiences. So consider a four-legged companion and enjoy the endless supply of unconditional love.
As if there wasn’t enough to think about, you should also devote May to getting organized. With Mercury in Gemini, your Inbox is probably teeming with e-mails. Stem the tide by setting up junk filters and designating specific times to check messages, rather than continuously checking every few minutes (a true time waster now!). Your streamlining plans should include backing up all your electronic data. On May 26, Mercury goes retrograde, which can cause frustrating technological breakdowns. Avoid setbacks by planning ahead—you’ll be glad you did!
