Monthly Horoscope:

Virgo (August 23-September 22)

JUNE 2008

You’re back with a vengeance, Virgo. Last month, Saturn returned to direct (forward) motion in your sign. Saturn is the planet of structure and hard-earned rewards—things that sound intimidating to anyone but you. You love to roll up your sleeves and dig in to a challenge, Virgo. Paying dues? Sure. That’s the only way you’d want to get into the club. Cutting corners has never worked for you and it never will.

Saturn has been in your sign since September 2007. Many Virgos made radical life changes around this time. You could have switched careers, left a relationship, gotten pregnant, or launched out on your own. After a big burst of change from September until December, things slowed down a bit when Saturn went retrograde around the holidays. That cycle is over. Do you feel that sense of urgency again, Virgo? Any projects that got sidelined since December are now on a fast track again. You may not be sure where you’re heading, but you’re certainly willing to play!

On June 3, a New Moon falls in your tenth house of career and leadership. A new chapter of your work life begins around this day. Blast off resumes and set up interviews, even if they’re only informational ones. You could be offered a new title or accountability within an organization.

Now, we don’t suggest sitting home passively waiting for the phone to ring. Be proactive. You might even do a little New Moon ritual to visualize what you want for your career. What would truly feel rewarding to you? Set aside your dutiful nature and all those “shoulds” and really meditate on this. The seeds you plant at any New Moon can blossom at its twin Full Moon six months later. Where would you like to be professionally by December 12, when the Full Moon falls in your tenth house? Keep it realistic enough to be achievable, but inspiring enough to make you want to leap into action.

Adding an important twist this month is Mercury, your ruling planet. Mercury is retrograde (backward) until June 20, causing all kinds of miscommunications and technological SNAFUs. If you send off important documents, make sure it’s by certified mail so you can ensure their delivery. If you make calls, send electronic files or book appointments, triple-confirm everything. If possible, stall on any contract signing until after June 20. It doesn’t mean you should call off any deals, just request a little extra time to review the fine print. You’ll want to do that during Mercury retrograde anyhow.

The tenth house also rules authority figures, men and fathers. During Mercury retrograde, you could find yourself at odds with a powerful male, or someone with a lot of “masculine” energy. This could be a parent or someone who’s heavily traditional or rule-oriented. Either way, it seems your strong personalities are in for quite a clash, and nobody’s willing to back down.

Virgo, you can be very law-and-order yourself, but if another Alpha type rides into town you quickly let them know: there’s only one sheriff, and it’s you. This attitude will quickly turn the townspeople mutinous. So unless you want to see friends and colleagues riding off into the sunset like outlaws, As the saying goes, might doesn’t make right—even if you deliver it in “pleasant” tones. Just because you’re an iron fist in a velvet glove, doesn’t mean your punch won’t leave a bruise, Virgo.

Our suggestion? Pour yourself a nice cup of tea and pair it with a slice of humble pie. After you’ve eaten the whole thing, dial up some old work contact and mentors, and ask to take them to lunch. Tell them about this new chapter of your life and ask for help making contacts and connections. Virgo, you’d rather eat glass than ask for help, but it’s time to transform this attitude. You contribute so much, but your “receiving muscle” is weak. Consider it this way: you could actually occur to people as arrogant or blocked off, if you deny them the gift of giving.

Now, on to family matters. Do you have some unfinished business with your parents—especially your mom? On June 15, powerful Pluto makes its last visit in your lifetime to Sagittarius, ruler of your fourth house of home and family. Pluto is the “dwarf planet” of deep, core-level transformation. It will be in Sagittarius until November 27, never to return until a couple hundred years from now.

If you feel the earth rumbling ‘neath your feet, that’s Pluto. In January, Pluto entered your fifth house of romance and creativity, revolutionizing your attitude there. Lucky Jupiter is also here all year, bringing on an abundance of admirers or a flood of creative, playful energy. The fifth house also rules pregnancy, so you might even have decided to have a child. A latent artistic talent could have emerged, too.

Either way, Pluto takes a five-month break from this part of your chart, and Jupiter is retrograde (low-power) until September. Your love life now takes a backseat to this unfinished home and family business. Virgo, now that you’re heading into a long period of creativity, you don’t want old family grudges blocking that flow. Pluto’s gift, however strange its package, is helping you put closure on any lingering resentments held against your oldest ties.

Your home is also affected by this Pluto cycle. Are you ready to move, redecorate or make some kind of radical switch to your living situation? After years in the same place, you could uproot and relocate to a place that’s completely unlike where you lived before. Stay open to it!

The Full Moon on June 18 will help you gain so much clarity around these matters. Full Moons typically indicate coming to full bloom. If you’ve been working on improving your home or family ties, you could reap the rewards now. Whatever’s been hidden comes to light around this Moon. Let it guide you now.
