Horoscope:
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
JUNE 2008
You owe, you owe, so off to work you go. Taurus, you’ve had an unusually challenging time with money for the last year and a half. It’s not that you’ve been surviving on beans and rice, or rubbing together two nickels (close, in some cases). But the prosperity wagon hasn’t been quite so reliable with its deliveries at your doorstep. A major life change made in the last 18 months could be contributing as well.
If you feel like you’ve been trying to stand up straight during an earthquake, you’re right. The pace of 2008 has been more like canoeing the rapids than rowing gently down the stream, forcing you to adapt to swift and unpredictable life forces. The most baffling part has been adjusting to the lack of routine. You’re a creature of habit, accustomed to having a steady job, cash in your pocket, and ample savings in the bank. Now? Not so much. Even if you’re financially solid, life finds other ways to pull the rug out from under you. You intuitively sense that you shouldn’t get too comfortable just yet.
On the other hand, you might feel an incredible sense of freedom being so unmoored from the predictable. Truth is, while it was nice to come home and find the lights always on, life may have gotten a bit dull. The planets, in their divine intelligence, know when it’s time to shake things up. For you, that time is now. Change—something Taureans fight tooth and nail—can be incredibly healthy once we stop resisting it.
One idea? Learn to meet change the same way you greet a guest. Be a gracious, welcoming host. It might even help to think of change as an actual person, a visitor with an important message. Invite change to dine at your table and hear what it wants to tell you. Listen keenly and don’t interrupt.
Money, as you’ve guessed, will be one major topic. Until June 20, communication planet Mercury is retrograde (backward) in your second house of income. If you’re behind on bills or owed money, pour all your effort into straightening things out. Mercury retrograde also brings back people from your past. You may get a job offer from an old colleague or employee. On June 3, a New Moon in your money house makes it a promising day for new ventures. Venus, the planet of attraction, also visits your money sector until June 19. Got an important meeting? Schedule it between June 7-9, when Venus and Mercury join forces. An ex or old lover could even show up with a money-making opportunity. Turn yourself into a money magnet for the first three weeks of June, and you could find gold under every rock.
On June 15, powerful Pluto retrogrades back into Sagittarius, your eighth house of debt and windfalls. Between now and November 27, large sums of money could show up in your life—hopefully incoming! A tax refund or inheritance could surprise you (in a good way), or a credit card bill could shock you. The eighth house also rules real estate, psychology, intimacy and sex. Any of these issues could come to the forefront now.
Beyond that, Pluto rules deep inner transformation—at a cellular, fundamental level. This is Pluto’s last visit to Sagittarius for literally hundreds of years, so take advantage of it. Taurus, it’s time to make a serious change in your attitude toward money and lifestyle. For many Tauruses, your identity is tied to your “stuff.” Your tastes in decor, clothing, and art are a reflection of a carefully cultivated public persona. Understandably, you want to be seen as a savvy, sophisticated person—not some guy at a diner from Anywheresville, USA. However, it’s time to let that go. If you can release your need for status (at least until November 27), your life will undergo an amazing shift.
You must be willing to feel disoriented for a little while, to step out of your skin and be uncomfortable for the sake of personal evolution. What will you discover on the other side? True freedom. The ego has a funny way of giving us a false sense of security. Untie your identity from your bank account, your possessions, your job title. Of course, this will leave you with one scary-ish question: If I’m not those things, who am I? Leave that open-ended for now. The answer will reveal itself in time.
Pluto is also offering you one final “trial by fire” to transform your intimate relationships. Taurus, you’re not one to dig deep or talk things through beyond a certain point, but that avoidant attitude has reached its expiration date. You like things to look pretty on the outside, to remain status quo and pleasant. Seems that Pluto has other plans. You could get a hard look at your own or another person’s “shadow side.” We realize this sounds scary, but the truth is, everybody has a dark element to his/her nature. Even the saintly types among us have secrets tucked into their halos.
The only way to make peace with your inner shadow nature is to become familiar with it. Intimately familiar. If you don’t, you will simply attract people who reflect your shadow side back to you. For example, if your shadow side is sneaky or secretive, you may meet people who are untrustworthy. If your shadow fears abandonment, you might attract mates who won’t commit. This is life’s way of driving up your “demons” so you can reconcile them within yourself.
Taurus, we don’t suggest you go this path alone. The eighth house rules psychology and spirituality. Pluto’s visit is prime time to delve into your own psyche with a trained therapist, coach, spiritual healer or energy worker. Open your mind. Guidance from a professional will empower you with crucial new skills and perspective. If you need more incentive, next year is set to be one of your luckiest career years in a decade. Why not handle the baggage now, so you can be ready to strike gold in ’09!
So where to begin? On June 18, a Full Moon falls in your eighth house, shining a giant spotlight on whatever issue you should tackle first. Although it may not begin as a pretty picture, meet whatever comes your way with faith, grace and dignity. You specialize in these things, Taurus, so work your magic.
This Full Moon could also deliver a big insight for you about yourself or an important relationship. It’s time to step up and put lingering issues to rest for once and for all. If you feel you’re on the wrong path, change course now, even if it means upsetting someone temporarily. Trust your gut and stay true. On the other hand, if you know your mate is The One, or the life path you’ve chosen is right, don’t let short-term snags or setbacks deter you from your course. Take a deep breath and look inward at whatever obstacles need to be cleared. Then roll up your sleeves, Taurus style, and tackle them now. As Ophi’s Taurus husband always says, “I’m like steel: you can bend me, but you can’t break me.” That’s the spirit!
