MONTHLY OVERVIEW:
A long-overdue lovefest blows into town. January begins with the Sun in Capricorn, your romantic fifth house, joined by amorous Venus and a solar eclipse on the 15th. Flirt your way into 2010, Virgo—there will be plenty of admirers ready to play along. On January 17th, expansive Jupiter twirls into Pisces, your partnership sector. Between now and January 2011, your entire approach to relationships evolves. Some Virgos will move on to more fulfilling matches, while others will deepen commitments—and it’s all for the best.

On the 19th, the Sun moves into Aquarius, your sixth house of health and fitness. This is prime time to start that post-holiday life makeover you’ve been talking about—decluttering, going vegan, starting a serious yoga practice. If you’re joining a gym, you’re better off waiting until this cycle begins. Your ruling planet Mercury is retrograde (backward) until the 15th, an unfavorable time to sign contracts. If you must take advantage of a special offer, be sure to read the fine print.

LOVE & ROMANCE:
The past comes back for the first half of January, when Mercury backspins through Capricorn, your romance sector. You may hear from an old flame, or even consider a second go-round with an ex. Take it slow until the 15th, when Mercury returns to direct (forward) motion. On that day, a Capricorn solar eclipse could bring new love into your life—when you least expect it. You’ll certainly get the clarity you’re seeking after the eclipse, since it joins forces with love-planet Venus.

If you’ve grown jaded and resigned, the stars have a surprise in store. Lucky Jupiter spends much of 2010 in Pisces, your committed relationship sector, bringing an adventurous spirit to your love life. With radical Uranus also in Pisces, there’s sure to be an unconventional or surprising twist. Single Virgos could meet a soulmate-playmate combo, someone rather different from your usual type. If you’re tolerating an unequal partnership, or staying with a mate past the freshness due date, you’ll find the courage to move on. An abundance of more fitting choices await! While it may sound funny, get to the gym later this month. Love-planet Venus enters your fitness and organization house on the 19th. You could meet a cutie on the neighboring treadmill—you never know.

MONEY & CAREER:
Hold onto those purse strings, Virgo. Restrictive Saturn spends the next three years in Libra, your money and work sector. You’ll need to make smarter choices about spending and saving, trimming back excess. Saturn will be retrograde here from January 13th-April 7th, forcing you to be extra vigilant about allocating funds.

Although this may seem like a curse, it will spark a big shift within you. Virgo, you have an addictive personality—whether that’s to creature comforts or having things just so. Over the next couple months, the planets help you embrace more wildness in your life. If you’re short on cash, you’ll need to tap into your creativity to prosper, perhaps with a side job or cottage industry. Believing in abundance is a human challenge, since our Darwinian brains are wired for survival and scarcity. Nonetheless, you must forge past your doubts and experiment. Set aside your perfectionist tendencies; you may not get it right the first, or even second, time. As the saying goes, throw some spaghetti against the wall and see what sticks.

The Leo full moon on January 30th could bring a competitor’s claws out, exposing a hidden agenda. Allow this backstabber to hang himself with his own rope, rather than engage in open warfare or revenge. As Gandhi said, “An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.”

HEALTH: MIND, BODY & SOUL:
You’re in the midst of a dreamy, spiritual cycle that began mid-October and lasts until June. Energetic Mars is in Leo, your sleepy twelfth house of healing, mysticism and closure. Mars is retrograde until March, bringing up old memories for release. Your immune system is fragile during this period, and you’ll need to guard against burnout and guilt-induced anxiety. Know your limits, and don’t be afraid to say no.

The twelfth house rules secrets and vices. If you’ve got old addictive or codependent patterns, they can rear up between now and March. Virgo, there’s no shame in asking for help. A support group, a mentor or a therapist can make the difference. It wouldn’t hurt to request spiritual or angelic guidance, if you’re open to it. Serendipitous assistance arrives with divine timing at the Leo full moon on January 30th. All you have to do is ask, or visualize what you want. The universe will handle the rest. On the 19th, the Sun and beautifying Venus enter your healthy sixth house, a good time to add exercise, nutritious food and pampering to your life.
