MONTHLY
OVERVIEW:
Work and finances absorb your
attention for much of January. You’ve got your Centaur’s bow
in the quiver, ready to hunt. Not so fast, Sag. This month, the stars strap
you firmly into the time-out chair. Two retrograde (backward) planets make
you slow down and evaluate: Mercury in your money sector until the 15th,
and motivational Mars in your long-term vision house until mid-March.
You can either squirm like an unruly child or be patient—a worthy challenge for your sign. Revamp your budget, tweak plans and write everything in pencil rather than ink. On the 15th, a Capricorn solar eclipse could bring a new income opportunity out of left field.
Change picks up speed as January unfolds. On the 17th, your ruling planet Jupiter makes its annual move—this time into Pisces, your home and family sector. Putting down roots is not your nomadic sign’s style, but this year, you’ll find adventure closer to home. Your relationship with your mother, daughter or a female relative expands and evolves. Women will play an important role this year, and your living arrangements could change. You might start a family, purchase a house or even move cross-country (especially near water).
LOVE & ROMANCE:
Changes to your personal life were a theme of 2009, and that continues
as 2010 begins. On New Year’s Eve, a lunar eclipse fell in Cancer,
your eighth house of sex, intimacy and intense bonding. There you go,
squirming again. Claustrophobia is a Sagittarius trademark (you’re
the “bachelor” sign), and you get antsy when relationships
start to feel too permanent. In love, you quietly find the emergency
exit, keeping an eye on it just in case you start to suffocate. This
eclipse marked a turning point, pushing you to commit without an emotional
contingency plan. Yikes! Remember that trust is a grace one extends,
and it doesn’t come with a guarantee. However, that doesn’t
mean that it shouldn’t be earned, either.
On January 15th, a Capricorn solar eclipse guides your love life in a secure new direction. Romantic Venus joins forces with the eclipse, placing you here gently, rather than abruptly. With expansive Jupiter moving into your home and family sector two days later, you’ll continue to build confidence and security. On the 19th, Venus enters Aquarius, your communication sector. Take the time to really listen to your mate, “mirroring” back what you hear. It’s a good time for lighthearted fun and low-key dates. If you’re single, you could meet someone in the neighborhood, online or through mutual friends.
MONEY & CAREER:
The “b”-word, budget, may ring like a curse, but it’s
a necessary evil now. For the first half of January, hunker down and craft
a detailed plan for your long-term security. With Mercury retrograde in
your money sector, you’ll need to go back over expenses, receipts
and other nerve-wracking details. Think of it as financial feng shui: You’re
clearing clutter and confusion to make room for prosperity. The effort
pays off when a Capricorn eclipse on the 15th brings unexpected opportunity
and offers. With ambitious Mars retrograde in your ninth house of travel,
study and wisdom, tackle unfinished ventures. Dust off a writing project,
return to school, or slowly develop an entrepreneurial idea.
Your mindset makes all the difference, so be sure you’re fostering a conscious, positive mentality. This will take diligence now. On the 13th, structured Saturn takes a backspin through your eleventh house of groups and technology until April. Reassess the people in your life. What are their beliefs about money, abundance and opportunity? If you’re hanging with an inspiring crew, share your grand plans. If the glass is always half-empty among your peers, know that you’re absorbing these defeated beliefs. Shake off the downer vibes. This is a good cycle to contact former colleagues, redesign a website and track down an old group of unconventional thinkers. Don’t throw out the baby with the bathwater, though—a few skeptics in your circle can help you from taking foolish risks. However, make sure they’re speaking from wise experience rather than fearful ignorance.
HEALTH: MIND, BODY & SOUL:
You crave security like never before, but it takes trial and error to achieve.
Take a good look at your habits this month. How have you structured your
daily routine? Chances are, your schedule is crammed with distractions,
side projects and interruptions. While you crave spontaneity, it’s
hard to get back in the zone once a ringing cell phone or forgotten appointment
breaks your flow. Streamline your schedule and prioritize your top three
to-do items per day, max. At the January 30th full moon, you may hit
critical mass with the projects you’re juggling, forcing you to
say “enough!”
Jupiter enters Pisces on the 17th, inviting the sacred feminine into your life. Sounds like New Age jargon, but you’ll soon know just what we mean. It’s been a long time since you felt like a queen, Sagittarius. If you have to be the one to place the crown on your own head, so be it. Honor yourself, your curves, your heart—all the softer sides of yourself. Sagittarius is the hunter, and you’re often in “masculine” mode, pursuing and competing. Dial that down. Surround yourself with powerful, nurturing women this year. Dance classes, retreats, bed-and-breakfast getaways—this mellow energy plugs in your goddess lights. Angelic mother figures carry you through any hardships.
