MONTHLY OVERVIEW:
Everyone else is pumped with New Year’s ambition, but your energy is as bright as a sputtering string of Christmas lights. Pull the covers back over your head, Aquarius. Hibernation is your celestial duty, at least for the first three weeks of January. The Sun and several planets are in Capricorn, your twelfth house of rest and healing. With communication planet Mercury retrograde (backward) here until the 15th, your thoughts are as clear as pea soup. You may be processing an old loss or clearing emotional residue. Pieces of your past need to be released, so if you’re holding onto something, let it go.

On the 19th, your solar calendar resets when the Sun enters Aquarius. You’ll perk back up, shaking off the depressive or heavy energy. Lucky Jupiter also begins its 2010 tour of Pisces, your money, work and confidence sector, on January 17th. All the more reason to rest up and clear your energetic space. This could be one of your most exciting career years in a long time, with new opportunities and possible travel for work. Your ruling planet Uranus is also in Pisces for much of the year, indicating that technology, broadcasting or a cutting-edge job could be in the offering.

 

LOVE & ROMANCE:
Your passionate side reawakened last October, when red-hot Mars began a nine-month trip through Leo, your partnership sector. Although Mars has downshifted to a retrograde position until March, you’re still feeling the sexy vibes—perhaps with an ex or someone from your past. A love situation reaches full tilt at the Leo full moon on January 30th. You simply can’t hold in your feelings any longer, but beware the dormant volcano effect if you’ve been suppressing anger. Spewing hot lava will only burn your baby to a crisp. Don’t do anything rash around this date, whether it’s an impulsive break-up or booking a Vegas chapel. A reactive state is not the best space for decision-making.

You could see someone’s true colors at the January 15th eclipse, and they might be an unbecoming hue. Have you blindly handed over your trust, or gotten swept away to fantasy-land without doing a background check? Open your eyes, Aquarius, and make sure you’re not in denial. Your own resentments, guilt or co-dependence could make an unwelcome appearance at this eclipse, but use the opportunity to clear those icky feelings away. On January 19th, the Sun and love-planet Venus move into Aquarius, attracting new admirers and bringing back your mojo.

 

MONEY & CAREER:
An exciting year of new directions begins on January 17th. That day, expansive Jupiter moves into Pisces, your second house of money and work. Jupiter will be here until June, returning for four months in September. You already made quite a splash in ’09, while Jupiter visited Aquarius, helping you experiment with new interests, even totally reinventing yourself. You certainly learned a lot about who you are and what you want. Now, you can funnel those discoveries into paying work.

Jupiter rules travel, wisdom and adventure, and you may have the opportunity to hop on a plane, even relocate for work. Innovative Uranus (your ruler) is also in Pisces this year, so you may telecommute, see clients via Skype, or use digital equipment in your work. You’ll be introduced to unconventional ways of earning a paycheck, some exciting, others too good to be true. A business partnership could hit the skids this month, especially at the January 30th full moon. If you can’t reach compromise, either put things on hold or consider dissolving the union. Abundant opportunities await, so don’t let fear keep you hanging on.

Your mind-body connection is a key part of 2010, and a series of eclipses this year puts your well-being on the main agenda. On New Year’s Eve, a lunar eclipse in your health sector made this clear. You may need to do some deep healing this month, inside and out. Any physical ailments are directly linked to your emotional and mental states. Are you acting chipper on the outside, while stewing with quiet despair? Chinks form in your armor, forcing you to be honest with yourself. Do you even know whether you’re happy or not? It’s time to shatter the mask and be real.

On January 15th, a Capricorn eclipse sets you down a spiritual path toward well-being. Fortunately, holistic health and spirituality aren’t foreign concepts to your open-minded sign. Juicing, herbs, raw food, detoxing—if you’re not already a seasoned pro, you should give these a try. Keeping the faith is a challenge when Saturn goes retrograde in your high-minded ninth house from January 13th-April 7th. Push yourself to maintain a regular practice of meditation, therapy, even prayer if it fits your religious beliefs. With transformational Pluto in the mix, your powers of intention are mighty—and doubt will only manifest your defeated thoughts into reality. A mentor, coach or spiritual leader can keep you inspired.
