Horoscope:
Pisces (February 19-March 20)
JANUARY 2009
A long 12-year cycle is coming to a close, Pisces. On January 5th, Jupiter moves into Aquarius, your twelfth house of rest, healing and endings. The twelfth house happens to be ruled by Pisces, which is an advantage, since it can be a challenging cycle. Jupiter will be here for a year, making 2009 a critical time to finish longstanding projects, and gain closure in important parts of your life.
First, the good news: In 2010, Jupiter will move into Pisces, kicking off a whole decade-plus cycle filled with new opportunities and exciting beginnings. But…you’ve got to clear the decks for it.
That’s the catch—and it’s what 2009 is all about. Rather than add a lot of newness to your life, you need to focus on letting go. It’s as though you’re doing a yearlong detox or space clearing. If you can think of 2009 that way, it will help. The twelfth house rules surrender, so the more you release control, the more life will flow. As a Pisces, you may already understand the divine comedy of trying to control fate. There’s a saying: man plans, God laughs.
Healing should be a priority. This year, you’ll need extra sleep, and to really tune into your body’s need for rest. You’ll have to really stick to this, because you’ll feel stretched thin often, and you’ll also be called on to make some sacrifices. A relative or close person may need to lean on you more this year, perhaps due to illness or tough circumstances. Be there as much as you can, but don’t burn yourself out. That will serve nobody in the end.
If you find yourself dealing with a health or addiction issue, know that lucky Jupiter will help you recover. Keep your mind open to Eastern or holistic techniques, and work on any underlying emotional issues. The twelfth house rules the subconscious mind, so if you mind and body fall out of alignment, it could manifest in your well-being. Pick up a copy of Louise Hay’s You Can Heal Your Life for an interesting look at this. Therapy, energy healing, yoga and art could all be cathartic.
The bright spot in your chart? Love! Since the twelfth house also rules fantasy, it’s a cycle during which many people meet their soulmates, get engaged, even get pregnant. 2009 could be one of your most romantic years ever. A solar eclipse here on January 26 could be the day that the universe delivers love or baby news—right out of the blue.
On January 11, the Cancer full moon lights up your romance sector. Bundle up and get out, because true love could await! With love-planet Venus in Pisces, you’ll be downright irresistible. Pisces, if you’re trying to get pregnant, the stars are definitely on your side.
There’s one caveat: All month, unpredictable Uranus is battling with tough Saturn in your relationship sector. You could find yourself feeling incredibly antsy about commitment, ready to break free like a Runaway Bride. You may have the urge to rebel, and if you’re in a relationship, you could even pick fights with your mate just to stir things up. Easy, Pisces. It’s time to really take responsibility for what comes out of your mouth, and how that affects other people. Say what you mean and mean what you say—better to hurt someone with the truth than to lash out passive-aggressively.
Mercury will also be retrograde (backward) in your twelfth house from January 11-February 1, indicating that an unsavory part your past could make an unwelcome appearance. Someone may not have your best interests at heart, or could even be quietly sabotaging you. Trust your instincts, even if temptation is strong. Don’t let yourself get pulled back into a dynamic you know is unhealthy.
Though there may be tough times during 2009, heed the words of Winston Churchill, who said: “If you’re walking through hell, keep walking.” Remember that next year will be your brilliant reward for the healing work you do now.
