Aquarius (January 20-February 18)
JANUARY 2009
Out with the old, in with the new! On January 5th, lucky Jupiter moves into Aquarius, making 2009 one of your most exciting, abundant years in over a decade. Jupiter will be here until January 18, 2010, giving you a full year of amazing new opportunities. Since Jupiter moves into a new sign once a year, this is the start of a new 12-year cycle for you.
It’s a well-deserved reward, since 2008 was a challenging year for most Aquarians. Jupiter was in your sleepy twelfth house, making life feel like a foggy uphill battle. Things came together only to fall apart, and your own energy may have been spread way too thin.
On a bright note, many Aquarians met their soulmates, got pregnant, or did some deep inner healing. Since you don’t play in the emotional realm that often, it was an important departure from your more lighthearted or casual style. Old subconscious issues may have reared up, inviting you to heal some old wounds. Perhaps someone you thought was on your team was really stabbing you in the back, and you were able to sever ties with this “frenemy.” Jupiter also helped you learn to let go, rather than force your agenda. Anything that didn’t work out was ultimately for the best—in a goose-bumpy, almost karmic way.
Now, you’ve cleared the decks and you’re ready for a fresh start. Aquarius, keep an open mind! Your life or career could go in an entirely new direction. If you’ve been working on a project, this could be the year it gets noticed in a big way. Get those headshots taken and prepare the press releases! Stardom and prestige are coming. With romantic Venus in your glamorous second house, a sleek, sophisticated new look could turn the head of a dashing VIP.
Before you go charging ahead full-throttle, a note of caution: Mercury is retrograde (backward) from January 11-February 1—and it’s in Aquarius. Mercury retrograde causing technology, travel and communication breakdowns, so astrologers advise against signing contracts or pushing new projects forward. Retrogrades are actually important periods to reflect and make sure you haven’t skipped over important details in your haste to close the deal.
Since Mercury is retrograde in your sign, you’re at greater risk for being misunderstood. Best to take these three weeks to hunker down and review your master plan. Just do pop your head out on January 26th. On this day, a solar eclipse falls in Aquarius. It’s like being handed a clean page from the universe on which to write your dreams. This day is also like your “personal New Year” (and with an eclipse, its power is multiplied exponentially). Set your vision for the next six months, and be sure to write down your desires. Eclipses on February 9 and August 5 will tie in to whatever you wish for on this day.
While you take this three-week hiatus, why not hit the gym? On January 11th, the Cancer full moon illuminates your sixth house of health and fitness. You could have a surge of motivation to kick some bad habits and replace them with healthy eating and exercise. A project that’s filled with small details could come together, so you might find yourself working late that night and powering through the annoying minutia. Organize your papers and files, perhaps even getting a jump start on tax filing. Look over your schedule and plans for the next quarter.
It’s not a bad idea, because money will still be a bit unstable for the next couple months. It’s more likely to come in lump sums or periodic bursts, rather than on a steady schedule. With attractive Venus in your finance sector this month, you’re certainly a magnet for new sources of cashflow. However, with everything in your life being so new, it could take a little while for everything to stabilize into a routine.
It’s important that you allow this “germination” period, so do your best to plan in advance. You could even take a short freelance assignment on the side if you need contingency cash. Remain flexible and creative, and enjoy the adventure of this exciting new life chapter!
