MONTHLY
OVERVIEW:
February is an active month, filled with vibrant conversations and
brilliant ideas. The Sun is in Aquarius until the 18th, your third house
of communication and mental activity. You’ll be dashing around, meeting
friends, clients and kindred souls for a coffee here, a cocktail there. Bring
a notebook and a stack of business cards, because you’ll be exchanging
ideas and contacts. Writing or teaching projects go well now, too. You may
get more involved in your community—perhaps hosting a brunch or event
to raise funds for Haiti or a worthy local cause.
Don’t neglect the downtime, though. Last month, your ruling planet Jupiter began a year-long run through Pisces, your fourth house of home, family and self-care. A year of major nesting has begun. It’s decidedly un-Sag-like, but even a globetrotting Archer must cool her heels once a decade. When the Sun enters Pisces on the 18th, you’ll really downshift into homebody mode. The upside: you’ve never been so creative or in touch with your emotions. You’ve got the urge to put down roots, too. This year, you may move, expand your home, start a family or get a second place near the water (it’s not too early to check out beach rentals). Women and female relatives will be a pivotal role.
LOVE & ROMANCE:
The heat you feel is more like friendly fire. Romantic Venus is in your
eleventh house of group activity until the 12th, while the Sun is in
buddy-licious Aquarius. You’re hardly in huntress mode, which can
actually work in your favor. Sometimes, exactly what we’ve been “preying” for
(no, that’s not a typo) comes when we stop striving and stalking
after it. So go out, have a laugh, meet twenty of your closest friends
for silly fun like karaoke or ice skating. The lightness brings you back
to your best energy—and who knows, you could catch someone’s
attention when you’re being yourself.
On the 12th, Venus moves into Pisces, your feminine fourth house. Tap that wellspring of repressed goddess energy bubbling beneath those rumpled jeans and cotton sweaters. Don’t worry if you’ve put on a few winter pounds. Make like your Sagittarian sisters Mo’Nique and Gabourey Sidibe and adorn your curves in sensuous, beautiful pieces. Nothing improves your love life like a little self-worship, so spend some time reveling in your skin. Take 15 extra minutes each day to luxuriate, whether that means blowing out your hair, putting on lotion after the shower, or thoughtfully choosing an outfit.
On Valentine’s Day, the moon, Venus and Jupiter all converge in Pisces, so it’s the perfect night to get dolled up in your girlie best. Practice the art of receiving all day long. Since Pisces rules your sector of women, you might do something charitable in the name of sisterhood, even if that means making a small donation to a women’s microlending company like Kiva.org. Offer it in the name of love!
MONEY & CAREER:
Money, work and budgeting took up a lot of January’s time, with so
many planets visiting Capricorn, your finance sector. Mercury rounds out
this cycle, staying in Capricorn until February 9th. Put those last pieces
into place for your 2010 master plan. Negotiations for a job or assignment
go well the first week of February.
A big question to ponder, especially at the February 13th Aquarius new moon: What’s your message? The Sun is in Aquarius, your third house of communication, writing and presentation, until the 18th. If you were a brand or a company, what would you stand for? Then do a self-check (or ask friends and close colleagues) whether that’s the message you’re putting out. A little “brand consistency” goes a long way. Read up on the “hedgehog” concept developed by Good To Great author Jim Collins. In a nutshell: What can you be the very best at? Collins suggests that if you put all your focus into your standout talent or skill, you’ll reach your full potential.
The February 28th Virgo full moon sheds light on the matter, illuminating your tenth house of career and success. You could receive public acclaim for your work, or be offered an exciting assignment. For some Sagittarians, you may complete one path and head down another. This full moon will oppose your ruling planet Jupiter, indicating possible changes in your personal life—perhaps a relocation or travel. Emotionally demanding family members may need to be given boundaries. Same goes for insatiable clients, customers or bosses. You can’t play mama bird at the expense of your own goals. Seize the moment.
HEALTH: MIND, BODY & SOUL:
Easy does it. You’re at the start of a year-long cycle that will
teach you to take the best possible care of yourself. On the 18th, your
ruler Jupiter joins the Sun and a couple other planets. Have you been kind
to your body, heart and soul? You’ll know without question. If you
find yourself relaxed, smiling for no reason, sauntering through your day
on a pleasure trip—congratulations, you’re probably treating
yourself right. If you’re burnt out, resentful, frustrated, hungry,
or generally unfulfilled, you’ve probably siphoned your best energy
away to issues and dramas that give zippo in return.
