Monthly Horoscope:

Virgo (August 23-September 22)

FEBRUARY 2009

You’re feeling very Virgo—and there’s a reason. This month and last, several planets have traveled through Aquarius, activating your Virgo-ruled sixth house. That orderly, streamlined, clear-thinking you has returned for 2009. The sixth house also rules fitness, so if you’ve started a health kick, you’ll have plenty of cosmic support.

Of course, there might have been a bit of a bumpy start. Your ruling planet Mercury was retrograde (backward) from January 11-February 1, snarling communication, travel and technology. You may have had a few setbacks in efficiency, or your words could have misinterpreted by someone, causing tension to flare. Fortunately, that’s over and you can get back to making plans.

While you might be ready to take over the world, it’s still in your best interest to make sure every T is crossed and every I is dotted first. Strict Saturn is retrograde in Virgo until May 16th, demanding that your plans are absolutely leakproof. During a retrograde, it’s better to go back, edit, refine and review—not necessarily to launch. Though you’re not one to cut corners, this is a time when your perfectionist streak might actually come in handy. Find your “weak points” and strengthen those over the next four months.

This is a time for some real soul-searching, Virgo. If you discover that a project or commitment is no longer “you,” be honest enough to let it go. Ask yourself, “Am I doing this to please other people, or is truly still close to my heart?” For the last fourteen years, your life has in some way revolved around helping, pleasing or being there for others. Now, it’s time to really make it about you—even if that means withdrawing a little or scaling back your obligations.

On top of this, Saturn is also opposite unpredictable Uranus all month. When two planets oppose each other, it creates a pull between two contrasting energies. Uranus is like a rebellious teenager, while Saturn is like the authoritarian principal from the School of Hard Knocks. So in some ways, you’ll feel incredibly focused and disciplined, while another part of you just wants to shake things up with people.

Uranus is in your seventh house of committed relationships, bringing sweeping change for many Virgos. In the best-case scenario, you could meet a dynamic new partner, or bring some creative new approaches to your relationship. Uranus rules technology, so you could find yourself on the road, staying in touch via webcam or Skype.

There may just be general instability in your dealings with other people, due to changing circumstances, even erratic moods. Although you might have a couple blowups, each one is likely to help you understand something more about your own needs and the other person. You might even find yourself feeling flashes of anger that pass as quickly as they come. Tune in and find the message in these moments. With energetic Mars in your fitness sector, exercise is a great way to work out frustrations, too.

For other Virgos, Uranus will be a “wakeup shakeup.” If you’ve been playing the martyr or making another person happy at your own expense, you could find yourself boldly asserting your needs, even cutting ties.

This is especially likely around February 9th, when a Leo full moon eclipse illuminates your twelfth house of endings. We can say goodbye with our words, but not with our hearts—and now it’s time for that deeper level of closure. If a situation is not right for you, the writing will appear vividly on the wall.

Think back to August 2008, when a pair of eclipses first impacted this part of your chart. This February eclipse is a manifestation of whatever began then. If you’ve left the door open a crack, it’s time to seal it shut from negative forces. Picture yourself as a fortified chamber only open to positive, healing energies.

You could find inspiring new people after the 18th, when the Sun moves into Pisces. Your seventh house of relationships gets a little solar warmth. An interesting offer or contract could be presented to you, or you may partner up with a helpful mentor.

If you’re ready for a new level of partnership, the Pisces new moon on February 25th is a great day to envision what you want. Make a list of the qualities you need from the people in your life, as well as the things you bring to others. Over the next six months, you can really focus on making sure your life is filled with healthy, balanced people who know how to give and take in equal measure.
