Monthly Horoscope:

Scorpio (October 23-November 22)

FEBRUARY 2009

It’s official: your homebody month has started. The Aquarius Sun brightens your fourth house of home and family, making you feel all cozy and domestic. Why go out when you can stay in and bake banana bread from scratch, or curl up with a Netflix rental? Cooking, decorating, creative work and general nesting are your focus through February 18th.

The fourth house is the foundation of the chart, and it also indicates how comfortable you are within yourself. The first three weeks of February are important for taking stock of your soul. Without a solid inner base, it’s hard to build anything bigger. Take the time to focus on your roots now. And if a change of address is in order, it never hurts to check out the housing market.

One exercise you could try? Do a “life inventory.” Look at everything from your clothes and makeup, to your job, to your relationships with friends and family, to your habits. Do they resonate with the person you want to be in the world? With whom do you spend the most time on the phone and exchanging emails? If these people don’t pull your life and dreams upward, you might want to rearrange your priorities. Start putting energy into people who give it back in equal or greater doses. You should also rearrange your schedule to incorporate more nurturing activities and “me” time.

February 23rd is an especially powerful day, since the Moon will join Neptune, Jupiter and Mars here. A project involving women, family or hospitality—perhaps one you started last month—gets an upsurge of cosmic energy this month. (The fourth house rules all things female and feminine.) You might even be thinking about starting your own family. Or, your relationship with your mother could need some attention. If you’ve been dreaming of a beach house or waterside property, investigate. No dream is too big, especially on this day.

Your career gets a jolt on February 9th, when a Leo lunar eclipse could bring a budding vision to bloom. Think back to August 2008, and what you started then. A pair of Leo eclipses that month are linked to whatever’s happening now. Seeds that you planted could sprout into a successful venture. You could hear news of a big opportunity, a promotion, or a leadership role.

As for love? You’ve got better luck after all the Hallmark hype dies down. Tension could run high on Valentine’s Day—and it may not be the kind of friction love stories are made of, Scorpio. That day, stressful Mars forms a tense square with the Scorpio moon. Somebody’s emotions are causing drama, or you may feel guilt-tripped into celebrating on someone else’s terms besides your own. Somehow, we see you pulled between doing what you truly want and taking care of a needy person.

A female friend or relative could make trouble. Perhaps she’s jealous of your confidence or relationship, and you feel like you must somehow tone down your happiness for her. Scorpio, don’t put yourself on mute. Be a shining example of self-love, whether you’re single or partnered up. Don’t get guilt-tripped out of celebrating the way you want to!

Either way, on February 18th, the Sun moves into Pisces, your fifth house of romance. You’ll have the next month to make up for any V-Day drama or disappointment. If you’re single, get back on the scene. And if your dating life has been uninspiring, it could be time for a new approach. If you’re an online dater, ask a friend to review your profile and give you honest feedback. Of course, Scorpios tend to be private, so you may not be keen on putting your personal details on the Internet for all to see. Nothing ventured, nothing gained—so at the very least, ask trusted friends to hook you up with promising prospects.

The February 25th new moon is a great day to create a new vision for your love life, along with your creativity. The baby bug could bite on this day, too. It’s said that wishes made at the new moon are most likely to be granted, so take time to really envision what you want. Over the next six months, you’ll be amazed what comes your way. You just need to be crystal clear—don’t be afraid to ask. The universe is abundant. There’s enough to go around!
