Monthly Horoscope:

Libra (September 23-October 22)

FEBRUARY 2009

Got any room left on that dance card, Libra? Just in time for Valentine’s Day, love blossoms for you in a major way. With the Sun in Aquarius and your romantic fifth house until the 18th, you feel passionate and playful. You’re never one to turn down a little romance—and there’s more coming your way.

An old flame could have appeared on the scene last month, because Mercury was retrograde (backward) in your fifth house, bringing back lovers from your past. If someone came around promising things could be different this time, you may have been tempted but skeptical. Rightly so. Now that Mercury is direct again, you’ll be better able to judge this person’s character.

Libra, over the past year, you’ve been growing as a person, and your needs have changed. This month, you could begin to explore what kind of relationship fits the new you. On February 4th, love planet Venus enters Aries, your seventh house of committed partnerships. Venus happens to be your ruling planet, and she’ll stay here for an unusually long time (until June 6th).

During this cycle, you’ll attract new partners for both business and personal ventures. You can also work on bringing harmony to your dealings with other people. If the balance between you and others isn’t equal, Venus will help you restore it. Compromise, negotiation and clearly defined terms will keep your relationships on a steady course.

There’s a caveat: hotheaded Aries is an uncomfortable vibe for peace-loving Venus. The driven, competitive energy of Aries is hard for the graceful goddess to handle. You’d rather make love than war. While you may fight for justice in society, you hate conflict in your personal life. Aries challenges you to be more direct, something your sign hates—but you can certainly benefit from learning.

The main goal of this cycle is for you to negotiate between your needs and those of other people. In some way, you’ll want to reconfigure the unspoken “contracts” you have with the people in your life. That could be on a business, friendship or romantic level. Take a good look. Wherever you’re being selfish, give more. And where you’re being a doormat, pull back or put up new boundaries. It’s always about finding the right balance for you!

A wakeup call could arrive on February 9th, when a lunar eclipse brings something to light in a friendship or group. You could hear amazing or surprising news (maybe both). This eclipse ties into an earlier pair of eclipses that fell in August 2008. Look back to that time and anything you began at that time. This eclipse is a “harvest” from then. Something comes to fruition on this day in a big way.

On the 23rd, the Moon, Mars, Neptune and Jupiter convene in your fifth house, which rules not only love but fertility. With these planets here, you could be especially pregnancy prone, so take precautions if you don’t want a bun in the oven—or circle this day if you do!

On the 18th, the Sun moves into Pisces, your sixth house of health, fitness and organization. It’s time to handle those annoying little tasks and get your life in order. Hit the office supply store for some pretty filing solutions (you always work better in the midst of beauty), and do another round of decluttering.

Make fitness a priority, too. Taking care of your body will be a great way to stay in touch with your needs, since our intuition is felt as a “gut” or physical sensation. With Venus in Aries, you might skip the soft-and-flowy yoga fare in favor of heart-pumping cardio, even martial arts! We know—totally out of character for many Libras, but a more aggressive workout will burn off any frustrations. Better to work it out in step class than in a fistfight. You’ll have more tension than ever thanks to Venus in Aries, so keep the energy moving and you’ll manage it much better.
