Monthly Horoscope:

Aries (March 21-April 10)

FEBRUARY 2009

Love is a central theme in February—just in time for Valentine’s Day, too. On February 4th, Venus moves into Aries. Venus is the planet of harmony, beauty and romance, and this love goddess will put her spell on you. Many Aries have already found love over the past year, and with Venus here, life gets even more enchanting.

The twist? Venus will be in Aries until June 6, four times longer it usually stays in a sign. That’s good news and bad news. In March, Venus will go retrograde (backward) for six weeks, lengthening its visit. This cycle can be challenging for relationships, so plan ahead—you’ll need to be especially understanding with romantic partners (and yourself). It’s a good time to go back and work on anything that’s not solid in your love life. In the meantime, this month is ripe for creating a new romantic chapter!

But wait…there’s more! On the 9th, a full moon lunar eclipse lights up your fifth house of romance. Eclipses bring surprises out of the blue, and this one could bring a situation to a fast fruition. A passionate exchange, even a declaration of love, could occur around this date. The fifth house is fiery and dramatic, and during an eclipse, heated words could spill out. Don’t make any rash decisions or cut someone off with a diva-style curtain call. Eclipses can definitely scramble our thinking!

The fifth house also rules pregnancy and creativity. You could get surprise baby news, or you’ll certainly be extra fertile around this date. A creative venture could also come together, especially if it involves a social cause, the Internet or a group project. Stay tuned!

Valentine’s Day itself might not be the five-star day, though. On the 14th, your ruler Mars squares off against the moon, causing tense feelings or a possible disagreement over how to celebrate. Someone may want to be serenaded with roses and expensive dinner, while the other party is in a non-celebratory funk. Or, one of you wants to go out solo, but the other wants to hook up with a group. You may be hoping for more intimacy, and you could even pick a fight to get attention.

The real trouble will start if you bring unrealistic expectations to the day. As tough and independent as Aries women are, inside every Ram, there’s a little girl twirling in a pink tutu, dreaming that she’s a ballerina or a princess. If that little girl gets the reigns on V-Day, all hell could break loose.

Aries, forgo the Hallmark pressure, and you could be surprised by an incredible gesture of love (in whatever package it comes in). You might even receive a proposal. Single Aries might plan a party with your closest pals, and celebrate the love of true friendship. With the Sun in group-oriented Aquarius, the more the merrier.

In fact, we mentioned in January that this year is a great time to team up with others. Circle February 23rd as a day that you’ll benefit from the power of a group. On that day, the Moon, Mars, Neptune and Jupiter all come together in your eleventh house of teams, friends and society. Visionary ideas could flow among your inner circle.

After the 18th, begin to wind down a bit. The Sun will be in Pisces and your sleepy twelfth house. Since it’s the month before your birthday, focus on completing projects from the past year. If you feel a bit internal, treat yourself to some solitude, even a spa trip to rejuvenate. Quietly meditate if you need clarity, or do spiritual work to connect with your soul. You’ll want to make a fresh start during Aries time, which begins on March 20. Clear the decks so you can be ready!
