Aquarius (January 20-February 18)
FEBRUARY 2009
Happy birthday, Aquarius! With the Sun in your sign until February 18th, many Aquarians are getting a new lease on life. On January 5th, lucky Jupiter entered your sign, making up for a challenging 2008. The most exciting year of your life in over a decade is underway!
You should be feeling this upward trend more and more, especially because January ended with a powerful Aquarius solar eclipse. This date was like your personal New Year, and with the rocket fuel of an eclipse, you should be off to a roaring start! Of course, with Mercury retrograde from January 11-February 1, some unfinished business could have crept in. Hopefully, you “detoxed” the drama out of your life for good.
Either way, you can now move forward into an exciting month, where more planets will visit Aquarius, bringing you hits of power. On February 5th, ambitious Mars enters Aquarius, revving up your mojo. If your motivation has flagged, it should kick into high gear. You may have to fight for what you want, but all the better. Reconnecting you’re your spunk and spirit will do you good.
Welcome new opportunities—even ones that bring a radical lifestyle switch. You might move to another area, take on a new business opportunity, or begin promoting yourself in a different way. You could alter your appearance, perhaps with a different hair color, a new style, or by starting a fitness program (Mars will supply the energy).
Circle February 23rd as one of the month’s most significant days. The Moon converges with Mars, lucky Jupiter, and glamorous Neptune. You could receive a high-profile opportunity, possibly one that involves travel or a long-distance matter. It may involve the arts, or calls upon your creativity.
The only sticking point? These planets are all either rash, impulsive, or dreamy—not necessarily the wise ones who think it all through. You may find yourself grabbing a pen, ready to sign on the dotted line before getting the full details. Look before you leap. Make sure you’re not doing something to boost your ego, because that will fall flat. Set aside your desire to impress people or look like a big shot. Tune into your heart and ask for advice. It’s okay to take a couple weeks to think it over. Be thorough, Aquarius.
After the 18th, you’ll be a bit more grounded, thanks to the Sun in Pisces. Your second house of money and daily environment is highlighted until March 20. It’s time to start putting your new ideas into a structure, setting small goals that set the initial foundation. If you’re job-hunting, this is a good time to get out and interview.
Relationships also get airtime this month. On February 9th, a lunar eclipse will bring sudden manifestation or resolution to a key partnership. This could be business, personal, or both. Think back to August 2008, particularly the dates around the 1st and the 15th. There were two Leo/Aquarius eclipses then, so this one may be a reverb of whatever happened back then.
Right now, it’s time to complete a cycle in your dealings with other people. That doesn’t mean breakups (though it could). It could also mean that certain ways you’ve been with others no longer work. Perhaps things feel unequal, and you need to assert yourself more, or simply shift the dynamics. The eclipse will shine a big spotlight here—don’t pull down the shades and ignore it. Step into the light!
There’s one more eclipse that touches your relationships in 2009, which will be on August 5th. That will be a new moon, a good time to make new deals or join forces. Of course, you must first do away with old habits and patterns. Break those disempowering ways and by August, you’ll have a clean canvas.
Sorry to report that Valentine's Day may not be your most romantic day this month. With Mars in Aquarius forming a tense square to the moon, it looks like you could be working overtime that night. Be sure to create a Plan B with your sweetie, since you may simply be stuck at the office, or facing some other obstacle. Send flowers early in the day, or deliver a thoughtful surprise by messenger if you can’t in person.
You might also feel the pressure of kowtowing to a conventional Hallmark celebration, which gives your free-spirited sign the willies. Try not to be too rigid about it. If your honey wants red roses and chocolates, don’t insist on giving a piece of handmade sculptural jewelry by a local artist. And if you get the cheesy Whitman’s Sampler instead of the handmade jewelry, be gracious and thankful. Not everyone has your flair for the unusual.
In the end, it doesn’t really matter. In 2009, you need to follow the beat of your own drummer. Aquarius is the sign of groups and teams, but now you’re learning to stand out as an individual. Like the Pied Piper, you’ll soon find kindred spirits following behind you, wanting to join the party. For now, just “do you,” and don’t let anyone stop you!
