Monthly Horoscope:

Pisces (February 19-March 20)

December 2008

Others may be off partying, but the first three weeks of December have a strong work focus for you, Pisces. With the Sun and energetic Mars both in Sagittarius, your tenth house of career and leadership, it seems you’re the go-to guy everyone has in mind. Don’t expect to shut down completely until the 21st, Pisces. If only being in demand could come after the holiday season! Alas, Mars is here until December 28, so you’ll have to get it while you can.

If you can slip away, do so between December 1-4 when Jupiter connects with romantic Venus. Any parties you attend are especially fortunate for attracting love (if you’re single) or harmonious new connections. Since so much business is about “who you know,” this is an especially important week to put in face time. Try to stay focused at work so you can get out in time to attend any gatherings.

Not that you’ve been at a loss for social opportunities, Pisces. All year, expansive Jupiter has been in your eleventh house of friends, groups and networking. This festive placement made for a fun year, with lots of opportunities to mingle. You’ve probably connected with old friends and met vibrant new ones, possibly of another culture or background. Social networking sites like Facebook and work-related parties could have led to important connections.

The eleventh house also rules humanitarian causes and technology. Anything you did this year related to non-profit foundations, websites, radio or grassroots organizing was especially favored. Pisces, you’re at your best when you’re attached to a cause that’s close to your heart. Although some might mistakenly view you as passive, your true leadership radiates once you have a larger platform. You’re like the kid that might not fight back when a bully picks on her, but should that bully target a friend or family member, watch out!

That fight-for-a-cause instinct should be downright fierce now. On November 27th, powerful Pluto entered Capricorn, your eleventh house, its first permanent move in 13 years. Pluto will be here until 2024, deeply and indelibly impacting the role you play in a group—and in society at large. It’s time to step forward and lead the charge, Pisces. With your natural compassion, you’ll do so with style and grace. It’s time to connect what you do with your deepest beliefs and ideas.

You may also experience a shakeup in your circle of friends at some point. Pluto tends to reshuffle everything—at times abruptly—stripping away what no longer serves us. You tend to attract a bottom-feeder or two, or may have some hangers-on that you know you should cut off. If guilt or fear has prevented you from saying buh-bye, Pluto won’t tolerate that for long. Clear the decks, and make room for the powerful new connections that are ahead.

Now, let’s talk relationships. Since September 2007, restrictive Saturn has been in your seventh house of committed partnerships. If you’re coupled up, you may have hit a rough patch since then, or just had to assume a more responsible role. Relationships took on a sense of duty (at times, even burden), and some Pisces have even gone through breakups. This was not a cruel cosmic joke. Rather, Saturn in the zodiac’s “personal trainer” planet, who throws us challenges designed to make us grow. Any relationship bumps were just lessons that, if applied, could teach you the skills for building a rock-solid partnership based on mutuality.

Mid-month, you could feel pulled between work, relationships and family. Don’t forget to breathe! The Gemini full moon on the 12th in your domestic sector brings a family or home matter to the forefront. You may need to have an important, air-clearing conversation with a female relative (possibly your mom). This full moon falls on a Friday, so you might take the weekend to get your house in order. Power through an end-of-the-year cleanup: scrub the tiles, toss out old papers, clean out your closet. You’ll feel like a new person.

Around 15th, you could really have a tough time balancing your work and personal life.  Stressful Mars in your career sector forms a tense “square” with Saturn in your relationship house. Squares can cause a buildup of contrasting energies with leads to a breaking point. For example, you could be invited on a five-star date, but it will require telling your intimidating boss that you need to leave early. Or, you could invite your mate to the office holiday party, only to find that s/he doesn’t quite fit in with your water-cooler clique.

You can circumvent this by planning ahead. If you’re like most Pisces, you tend to avoid things until they reach a near-emergency state. Denial ain’t just a river, Pisces. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. If you’re upfront with people and let them know what’s ahead, nobody will be upset at you.

Fortunately, the year ends on a more entertaining note. Planets begin cruising into your party-hardy eleventh house again on the 21st. At least you’ll be available to mingle during the actual holidays. The 27th is an especially amazing day, with the Capricorn new moon bringing fresh energy to your social sector. Don’t forget to slip a business card or two into your evening bag, Pisces. You’ll need them!
