Monthly Horoscope:

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

December 2008

An unusually low-key year is coming to a close, Gemini. Although it was not without its ups and downs, you’ve had some immense personal growth. Jupiter, the planet of expansion and luck, was in your intimate eighth house. Although you’re usually the belle of any ball, you may have preferred private time nurturing your closest ties, like Geminis Nicole Kidman and Angelina Jolie. Your connections deepened, and as a result, some Geminis will end the year attached, even engaged.

The eighth house also rules large amounts of money, debt, real estate and joint property. With horizon-expanding Jupiter here, you may have seen chunks of cash come and go. Jupiter is the planet of abundance, so it expands whatever it touches. You may have bought or sold property, moved (Jupiter rules long-distance travel), taken out a business loan, or paid off debt. Since investments fall under the eighth house, yours were probably affected by the recent economic downturn. Hopefully, optimistic Jupiter has helped you remain level-headed.

This cycle ends January 5th, so enjoy the last month of this rare monastic year. You’ve done a lot of emotional heavy-lifting and inner growth in 2008, whether you realize it or not. Although you may feel a bit weighty, you’ve actually lightened your load. You’ll realize this by the middle of the month. On December 12, the Gemini full moon marks a peak self-actualization moment for you. You’ll see a birds-eye view yourself in full Technicolor—the good, the bad and the ugly.

Use this moment of insight to make important decisions. Which parts of your personality have you outgrown? Which habits and attitudes can now be shed like old skin? Leave that all behind at this moon. You might even do a ritual to symbolize letting go. Since Gemini is an Air sign, you could make a list of all you’re releasing, tear it up and cast the bits of paper into the wind.

The best part of letting go of that karmic clutter? It will make room for two in your life. December is a pivotal relationship month for Geminis, in several ways. The Sun and energetic Mars are in Sagittarius, your seventh house of committed relationships, for the first three weeks. You might receive marriage proposals, serious romantic prospects, even a new business partnership. Mars is an impatient planet, so we see somebody being especially eager to join forces. You love being arduously pursued (or vice-versa)! Try not to let anxiety and pressure interfere with making a level-headed decision. Traveling with your true love is possible after the 9th, thanks to romantic Venus in your ninth house of long-distance journeys. Or, you could meet a sexy someone from another country, state or culture.

Mars can also cause stress, so beware the urge to bicker with your mate or anyone close to you. Around the 15th, Mars will form a tense square (45-degree angle) with challenging Saturn, which is in your fourth house of home and family. You might feel torn between family obligations and relationship demands, with the two not meshing easily. Do your best to settle this inner conflict, but remember that you’re only one person, and you can’t please everyone.

The best relationship news, though? On November 27th, transformational Pluto has finally ended a 13-year stay in your seventh house of relationships. Intense Pluto can be like a raging wildfire, destroying all that no longer serves you, leaving behind only what’s pure and true. Your relationship history during this cycle may have been rather dramatic, thanks to Pluto’s intense highs and lows. Some Geminis we know have been married and divorced several times during this cycle! (For more on this Pluto shift, look back at November’s horoscope.)

Now, Pluto is in your intense eighth house until 2024, bringing you more of the energy that Jupiter sparked this year. If you’re a business owner, you might find yourself working with powerful investors or creating a joint venture. You could begin a career in real estate, law, finance, psychology, research…even surgery or a highly technical field that requires dexterity (you’re amazing with your hands). In some way, these will be themes for the next 15 years.

The eighth house is ruled by mystic Scorpio, so many Geminis will develop intuitive and psychic abilities. With your incredible mind and ability to “mirror” people (you’re the Twins), you probably already know that you’re a powerful healer in some way. Even if you help people with keen listening, technical help, or dropping a few witty words of wisdom, you’ll leave an indelible mark on someone’s life. You already have the ability to find information and opportunities for people, almost like magic. Now, your “master connector” skills will work overtime. Ask and the universe will deliver—it will be almost spooky how clear your line to the Divine can become!

While you have the capacity to earn huge amounts of money, meet a soulmate, or reach other thrilling heights, just be care wisely for whatever you gain. Remember that Pluto will destroy anything that’s not created with the purest of intentions. Gemini, you can be a master manipulator—you were born that way— but don’t abuse your power. Just because you know how to get your way through charm, seduction and other circuitous tricks, doesn’t mean you should. Tune in and ask yourself honestly, “Am I being manipulative or shady?”

It’s not that being manipulative is “bad”—no judgment. It’s just a low form of power that has unsavory karmic returns. Gemini, there’s something much bigger for you to tap into now. Learn the power of patience. You have so many knee-jerk reactions, but you can train yourself not to let those run the show. Eckhardt Tolle’s The Power of Now would be a great holiday read (should you be one of the 3 people left on the planet who hasn’t read it already).

Gemini, exciting and intimate days are ahead. You have so many wonderful dimensions of yourself that you may not even have discovered yet. Enjoy the treasure hunt!
