Monthly Horoscope:

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

December 2008

Healthy holiday treats, anyone? While others are feeling festive and indulgent, you’ve got the urge to whip up something tasty that won’t put everyone in a Yuletide food coma. Not a bad idea, Cancer. Your to-do list has gotten suddenly packed, and you’ll need your energy to handle the flood of details. With the Sun and energetic Mars in your sixth house of health and organization, the first three weeks of December will keep you on the go.

The spirit of giving doesn’t have to mean expensive presents—especially not now. The sixth house rules service, so consider volunteering at a food bank, charity or holiday toy drive. You’ll feel far less tempted to complain about your workload when you see what a difference a couple hours of your life can make for someone else. With our troubled economy, you’ll feel all the better pitching in, rather than feeling helpless.

Trips to the gym will also be important for dispelling any frenetic energy or frustration. There’s no need to wait until January 1st to take care of yourself, even if you binge at a party or two. This is a golden month to set fitness habits that will take you into next year. (Bonus: you probably won’t have to wait in line for the treadmill or elbow your way into a packed yoga studio.)

Take a day off on December 12, when the Gemini full moon illuminates your twelfth house of rest and healing. It’s a Friday, so try to book a long weekend. Hopefully you can! The twelfth house also rules sacrifice, so there could be demands aplenty piled on your shoulders. Somebody may be dumping their stress on you, or even stirring up trouble behind the scenes. Get to the bottom of anything that feels “off.” However, avoid being sucked into drama, which is always a temptation for your sign.

The rest of December is all about relationships and partnering up. It’s a theme that began last Christmas, when expansive Jupiter entered your seventh house of committed partnerships. Many single Cancers found love, and coupled-up Crabs grew by leaps and bounds in your relationships, learning new ways to harmonize with your mate. Other Cancers were offered lucrative work contracts or exciting professional partnerships. 2008 was all about mutuality and taking a gamble at the game of commitment. You have a new attitude about teamwork now, and it’s all the better.

If you’re still hiding shyly in your shell, do get out and mingle. The Sun and sexy Mars are in your seventh house for December’s first three weeks. You never know whom you could meet, especially now. While you may turn your nose up at online dating, open your mind. There’s still one more month to go for it! Jupiter will reward you handsomely the more you step out of your comfort zone.

There’s even more on the table than you may realize, Cancer. On November 27th, powerful Pluto entered Capricorn and your seventh house, where it will transform your approach to committed relationships for the next 15 years. Sounds heavy-duty? It is! Many Cancers will get married during this cycle (in fact, a holiday proposal is even possible for you). Other Crabs will create powerful, intense partnerships that transform who you are at a core level. If you have old baggage or deep-seated fears about commitment, Pluto will bring those out and help you face those demons. It may not be comfortable, but it will certainly bring permanent healing to this part of your life.

If you’re not with “The One,” Pluto will also make that painfully obvious. This so-called dwarf planet doesn’t mess around. Of course, that’s not to say you have to break up. Relationships are always a choice. You may decide to enter couples therapy or do some form of concrete healing work. Who knows? You could actually realize that the person you’ve taken for granted is indeed your perfect match.

An incredible book that has led both of us and several friends to our life partners is Calling In The One: Seven Weeks to Attract the Love of Your Life by Katharine Woodward Thomas. Ophira and two friends we’ve passed our copy to all married men they met while reading this book. At least four others (including Tali) are in solid relationships heading that way. If that’s not a selling point, we don’t know what is!

If new love (or a new attitude about love) is in your cosmic cards, there’s no better day than December 27th, when a new moon falls in your partnership sector. Start your Calling In the One exercises, or make a list of what you truly want from a relationship. New moons are powerful moments to whisper your desires to the universe. Over the next six months, your wishes will blossom. At the full moon near your birthday, you’ll be amazed what comes full-circle.
