Monthly
Horoscope:
Aries (March 21-April 10)
December 2008
Spread your wings, Aries! December begins on an expansive note, thanks to the Sun in Sagittarius, ruler of your horizon-stretching ninth house. Your ruler Mars is also in Sagittarius, firing you up to pursue positive change and exciting opportunities. Though November was a little dicey, this month’s planets help you take a philosophical look back over the last year.
And what a year it’s been, Aries. The biggest changes have been in your career and overall work style. Lucky Jupiter has been in your tenth house of career and leadership since last Christmas, flooding you with opportunity and triumphs. In fact, many Aries are ending 2008 in an entirely different job—perhaps even a different field—than you were in when the year began. Aries, you may have outgrown the job you were in, since Jupiter rules expansion. Like a sweater that’s too tight, you may have felt constricted and needed to break free.
Whatever the case, it was clear you were ready for bigger and better things. The tenth house is governed by traditional Capricorn, ruler of structure and big business. Entrepreneurial Aries could have traded in their solo acts for a paycheck from a large corporation. Other Aries received promotions, or even took the helm of your own business. You may have traveled for work, or gone to school to learn new skills. Although you probably felt way out of your comfort zone, it’s been exciting, too!
There was one little catch, though. Tough taskmaster Saturn has been in Virgo and your sixth house of service, challenging some Aries to swallow an unsavory slice of humble pie. Aries, you like to be number-one, and you’re not fond of being anything but the best in your field. This year, you may have had to earn your stripes through hard work, hard knocks and humility.
Saturn will be in Virgo until October 2009, so there may be a few more lessons in store. Aries, if you’ve been cutting corners or overlooking details, Saturn will send you back to the drawing board. The biggest muscle you’ll need to develop is patience. It’s all about doing impeccable work now, and learning how to be in a position of service, rather than the office rock star. Although it might be painful for an impatient sign like yours to do things by the book, there’s a reward in store once you do. Hang in there!
Meantime, Pluto brings its intense transformational touch to your
career sector for the next 15 years. On November 27, Pluto ended a
13-year cycle in your Sagittarius, your ninth house, and moved into
Capricorn. A long metaphysical journey is coming to an end. Perhaps
you’ve spent the last decade-plus exploring and wandering, studying
or expanding your mind, starting a business for yourself. Now, you’ll
come down from those lofty heights and focus on establishing yourself
in something concrete. It’s time to synthesize all those deep
concepts and brilliant brainstorms into tangible form.
You could also find yourself putting down deeper roots, starting a
family, or feeling like more of a nester than a nomad.
While you’ve always been a renegade, you could find yourself morphing into a “company man,” or somehow adopting a more traditional lifestyle—much to your own surprise. Aries, you’ll have the next 15 years to sort out whatever identity crisis this brings up. You’ve been wary of authority, but if that’s caused you to shy away from taking leadership, it’s time to evolve. Read or watch biographies of business icons as inspiration—and to grasp their humanity. Check out The Snowball: Warren Buffet and the Business of Life, a recent bestseller by Alice Schroeder, or Good to Great by Jim Collins.
Your love life is even affected by this more established energy now, especially the first week of December. Jupiter will join love planet Venus in Capricorn. You could find yourself ready to “go for it” and make a bigger commitment than ever. Suddenly, a solid relationship will seem exciting, rather than limiting. If you’re single, you could even meet an “established” type from another culture or country, or perhaps an attractive prospect who’s a little older than you. Stretch out of your comfort zone and keep an open mind.
On December 9, Venus moves into Aquarius and your eleventh house of groups and friendship. Your social circle could be the key to love. Be sure to hit holiday parties—you’ll be magnetic! Coupled Aries will feel romantic the more you get out and about, so dress up with your honey and get festive. (Note: This is just a preview of what’s ahead for ‘09, which could be your most social and group-oriented year in over a decade.)
If you’ve got something to say, the Gemini Full Moon on December 12 will help you find the words. Keep a pen and paper handy around this date, as you could have a major “a-ha” moment. Clear the air or speak out if you’ve been hiding.
After the 21st, your mind will be on 2009 goals—with lots of celestial support. A great day to really focus on those is December 27, when the New Moon enters Capricorn. The following day, your ruling planet Mars also goes into Capricorn, revving you up to start accomplishing whatever you devised. Who says you have to wait until January 1st to begin New Years resolutions? Aries, you’re the zodiac’s first sign, so it would be just your style to get started early.
