APRIL 2010

MONTHLY OVERVIEW:
April showers may be an old legend, but there’s a bit of mist and gloom around you as the month begins. The Sun is in Aries, your internal eighth house, making for a private and emotional time. You’re like a chrysalis, tucked away in your transformational pod as you morph into your next phase of personal evolution. With your tendency to absorb too much outside stimulation, there’s a lot to process and release.

After the 20th, you burst out of your cocoon, ready to embrace the world again. The Sun is in Taurus, your worldly and optimistic ninth house. Flap those butterfly wings, but don’t soar off just yet, especially with your ruling planet Mercury going retrograde (backward) from April 18-May 11, delaying or rearranging plans. You’ve also got one more round of cosmic lessons from taskmaster Saturn. From April 7-May 31, Saturn cycles back into Virgo. This is Saturn’s final visit to your sign for the next 30 years—much to your relief.

Saturn was in Virgo from late 2007 until November 2009, tossing your life into a boot camp-style turmoil that tested your will. The result was a hard-won reinvention. In fact, your life may barely resemble the state it was in two years ago. Is there still further you can go? Take a good, hard look at yourself and tighten up any remaining soft spots. Some Virgos may go back to the drawing board, but this is more of an “editing and revising” phase—preparing the manuscript of life for its finished draft. Hold off on launching anything new until June if you can. At that point, motivational Mars will also enter Virgo, giving you an extra shot of cosmic courage. Until then, turn your analytical gaze toward your own affairs and get them solidly in order.

LOVE & ROMANCE:
Back off, people. You’d rather hear liberty bells than wedding bells, at least for now. Romantic Venus is in your adventurous ninth house, and you need vast amounts of space and tantalizing new experiences. All month, Saturn in Virgo opposes Uranus in Pisces, your relationship sign, making you rebel against anyone who gets too close or possessive. With worldly Jupiter spending 2010 in your partnership sector, a long-distance relationship sounds ideal. You’ll even dial another country code to speak to Jean-Luc or Salvatore, time zone differences be damned. If you’re coupled, you’re ready to put more breathing room in your relationship—and to base your connection on fun, growth and adventure rather than sadness or drama.

That said, another (albeit quieter) part of you craves intimacy along with your international affairs. It’s a bit of a paradox, this desire to feel secure but not in any way confined, and it may take some trial and error to balance out. On top of it all, transformational Pluto will be retrograde (backward) in your romance sector until September 14th. Pluto rules the unconscious parts of the psyche, you may confront your own “shadow nature” around love. Where do you go cold, or dominate others, or keep them at arm’s length? Use the time between now and your birthday to shed any blocks you have to expressing your heartfelt sentiments, passion and desire. Avoid being pulled into old dramas, especially with an ex.

MONEY & CAREER:
The Sun is in Aries until April 20th, energizing your eighth house of wealth and financial planning. Focus on paying off debt, and increasing the value of any assets like stocks, fine art or real estate. You may buy or sell property, or you could be offered a joint venture with the capacity to appreciate over time. Tend to your long-term savings and retirement plans—and if you don’t have either, put something away from each paycheck, even if it’s 10 or 20 dollars.

After the 20th, an entrepreneurial or publishing project gets a boost from the Taurus Sun. With your ruling planet Mercury going retrograde April 18th, you might return to school or revisit a small business idea that’s been languishing on the back burner. Divine timing is on your side, so market this novel concept. Do a little research while Mercury is retrograde, even conduct an informal survey among friends or target customers.

The end of the month is great for schmoozing and attending industry events. Social Venus enters Gemini on the 26th, your ambitious tenth house, and you’re likely to meet powerful people in your field. Shimmy into a cute cocktail dress and open-toed pumps, then do some glamorous guerilla marketing at the mixer. You’re an excellent conversationalist, so all you have to do is show enthusiasm and interest for other people’s lives. Easy! By being a great listener, folks will remember you fondly, making them receptive to your ideas and pitches.

HEALTH: MIND, BODY & SOUL:
It’s time to let go of all things toxic, both physically and emotionally. Your eighth and twelfth houses are activated, indicating that it’s time to release the “garbage” you’ve collected and renew yourself. With the changing seasons, it’s a great time for a cleanse, even a course of colon hydrotherapy to get your systems flowing. Virgo rules the digestive system, so if you’re not past the squeamishness, educate yourself. So many diseases are linked to a clogged colon and sluggish food processing. Your energy levels may be a bit low this month, or you could find yourself spiking then crashing. Don’t overdo it, especially at the April 28th Scorpio full moon. An intense conversation could lead you down Codependent Lane, especially if you veer into know-it-all mode. Don’t get hooked into trying to solve someone’s problems. Your brilliant coaching and well-meaning solutions will fall on deaf ears, leaving you drained and resentful. Playing savior is a poor use of your time, so politely cut the conversation short.
