January 5, 2009 - January 18, 2010
Where will you find luck or growth in 2009? Look to Jupiter! On January 5th, inspiring Jupiter, the planet of expansion, made its annual move -- this time into air-sign Aquarius. Jupiter moves into a new sign every 12-13 months, lighting up a part of your life with opportunities to expand. Like a cosmic Santa Claus, Jupiter may drop good fortune right into your lap. It flings doors open all year, and rewards you for walking through. Stay alert and seize those golden moments. Jupiter is the “gambler,” so don't be afraid to take risks. The more you leave your comfort zone, the greater your results.
Last year, Jupiter was in earthy Capricorn, bringing stability and seriousness to our lives. Capricorn themes like the economy, real estate and the environment came to the forefront. Now, Jupiter is in Aquarius, ruler of groups, humanity and society. Aquarius is the the zodiac's Bohemian hippie, all about peace, love and harmony. Indeed, in February 2009, the Age of Aquarius officially "dawned."
As the economy goes deeper into a recession, we predict that the cooperative Aquarian spirit will come in very handy. Expect to see people sharing everything from food to cars to housing in order to cut costs. Some areas of the U.S. may even adopt some of the Israel kibbutz model, where meals are prepared in a group kitchen and children are reared collectively. Urban farming, anyone?
Because Jupiter is an international sign, we should expect to see more multinational peace efforts than ever. Technology will play into the bid for global harmony and understanding. Because Aquarius rules television, science and the Internet, people's homegrown videos from all over the world will tell the "real" story. Hopefully, this will bring an end to human rights violations like genocide and human sex trafficking. The major TV networks will need to give more power to the people. 2009 could be a breakthrough year for WebTV, when the cable networks seamlessly merge with the Internet.
Aquarius is an air sign, and as the world becomes more urbanized, pollution is a growing issue. We should absolutely tackle clean air as a global concern, regulating industries that are poisoning our lungs with smog and industrial waste. A revolution in air travel is also possible — WiFi is already slated to be added to some flights, and we can expect even more interesting additions to make flying friendlier (and hopefully safer).
