Love & Relationships
You’re going through a romantic revolution, Sag, and your passions are shifting by the day. It all started in March 2011, when changemaker Uranus entered Aries, your fifth house of love and self-expression. Uranus will stay here until 2018, bringing new energy to your personal life. If you’re single, you could meet an interesting array of prospects, and since Uranus rules technology, online dating could turn up a few contenders. One things’s for sure, Sag: it’s time to have more fun! Whether that means dressing up, developing a creative talent, or scheduling more dates (and not just to the same-old spots either), you’ll definitely want to mix it up in 2012.
Pregnancy is also possible, as the fifth house rules fertility. If you’re having trouble conceiving, you may explore IVF or other scientific innovations. However, Uranus makes us itch for freedom, so you may find it a little challenging to be a parent AND maintain your on-the-go Sag ways. With your ruling planet Jupiter in Taurus, your sixth house of helpful people, until June, Sags with children will definitely need to find a great babysitter—or bring your tots along on your adventures, like Sagittarius Brad Pitt!
On June 11th, an expansive and open-hearted new relationship cycle begins. Your ruling planet Jupiter will begin a yearlong visit to Gemini, your seventh house of committed partnerships. This cycle comes around once every 12 years, and single Sagittarians could meet “the One” during this time. Jupiter rules long-distance connections, so you could begin dating someone from another culture, or perhaps traveling to see your love in a different zip code. Not that you mind! As a worldly sign, you’re attracted to people from all walks, and if you have to pack a suitcase to get a little action, you don’t mind. Are you a little claustrophobic in love, or fearful of getting trapped? With optimistic Jupiter in this seal-the-deal part of your chart, you could begin to see commitment as a fun adventure instead of a “ball and chain.”
Coupled Sagittarians will enjoy more openness and perhaps even shifting roles in your relationship. If you’ve been the breadwinner or emotional anchor, for example, your significant other may begin pulling more of that weight. Some Sags will be ready to move to the next level—engagement, renewing vows, buying a home—while others may outgrow longtime mates and decide to move on to a more fitting match. Any Sag splits should be amicable under Jupiter’s positive influence, and hopefully, you’ll remain friends.
Your closest relationships have actually been shifting since December 2010, when a series of eclipses began to fall on the Gemini/Sagittarius axis every six months. Eclipses push us forward and off the fence if we’re being wishy-washy, and they also bring unexpected events. You may have met someone, suddenly ended a relationship, or found yourself relying on your partner in new ways since then. In 2012, there will be a Gemini solar eclipse on May 28th, which will open up a fresh chapter in your love life. Watch for events that transpire in the six months following, which will culminate with a Gemini lunar eclipse on November 28th.
One tricky period will be May 15-June 27, while love planet Venus is retrograde (backward) in Gemini. You may hear from an ex and even consider a reunion. Coupled Sagittarians could have trouble seeing eye-to-eye with your partner during this time, and you’ll feel an extra dose of tension now. If a rough patch ensues, you might take a break, or just dive in deeper (perhaps with the help of a neutral third party, like a therapist) to resolve your differences.
Is there some forgiveness work or deeper emotional healing preventing you from falling (or staying) in love? On October 3rd, maturity planet Saturn begins a two-year stint in Scorpio, your twelfth house of closure. It’s time to explore your deeper emotional blocks, and to do the real self-exploration work to overturn them. Issues of codependence, addiction and old self-sabotaging patterns may come up now. The twelfth house is all about the blurring of boundaries; yet, by contrast, Saturn is all about more rigid boundaries. It’s a bit of a Catch-22: you’ll need to be softer and more vulnerable in some ways, while being less trusting and gullible in others. You may be learning some important lessons about standing your ground and giving in a way that’s healthy. As a generous sign, you sometimes open your heart (and wallet…and door…) a little too quickly. Saturn in Scorpio is teaching you the power of slowing down and allowing things to unfold without forcing them.
Work & Money
Set your sights on success! 2012 could be one of your most prosperous years in a long time, especially in the first half. Ambitious Mars is in Virgo, your tenth house of career, from November 2011-July 2012, an unusually long eight-month cycle that could accelerate your professional life onto the fast track. You may be playing with some serious movers and shakers—and you could become an even bigger one yourself! Mars is retrograde (backward) from January 23-April 13, though, so use this slightly challenging cycle to remap some of your bigger plans. Make sure you have a solid strategy before you zoom off to launch.
Could you use a little help around here? Last June, your ruling planet Jupiter began a yearlong visit to Taurus, your sixth house of organization and administration. You’ve been getting better at organizing, delegating and doing detailed work since then. Some Sags have never been busier! While it’s a blessing to have so much going on during tough economic times, you may be experiencing the stress of all this growth cutting into your fun. Jupiter is in Taurus until June 11th, so use this time to put great systems in place that will keep you efficient and on top of everything. It would be nice to have a life again! You may need to outsource some of your work—or personal tasks like housecleaning, childcare, and bookkeeping—in order to juggle everything.
Meanwhile, your attitude, fears and deep-seated beliefs about money are going through a long, slow transformation. Pluto, ruler of the unconscious, is in Capricorn (your money and work sign) from November 2008-2024. Since then, the way you deal with money has been shifting, slowly but surely. Pluto will be retrograde from April-September this year, a time when some old fears could flare up. Any money or work problems are simply a manifestation of unresolved issues and limiting beliefs that you’re still carrying. Once you address and heal these false views, you’ll see miraculous shifts in your material problems.
A Sagittarius lunar eclipse on June 4th could mark a major turning point, perhaps a complete shedding of one way of life. It’s the culmination of a six-month personal transformation that was sparked by the November 25, 2011 Sagittarius solar eclipse. Think back to events that happened near last Thanksgiving for seeds that were planted then. You’ve become clearer and more certain about what you’re meant to do on earth, and you’ll continue to take bold steps—with no turning back—for the next two years.
When Neptune begins a 14-year visit to Pisces on February 3rd, there could be changes to your home, real estate and family life. You may decide to shift your working priorities to have more time with your family or to take care of yourself. A project involving women, families or hospitality (such as home décor or cooking) could take flight, or you may start up a cottage industry from home. This would be something definitely worth your while, since Neptune is here until 2026. You might just bring a touch of glamour and sass to the domestic arts, Sag.
This fall, be more discriminating about whom you trust. On October 3rd, tough Saturn begins a two-year visit to Scorpio, your twelfth house of hidden agendas. While you tend to be an open book who befriends everyone, disciplined Saturn is here until 2015 to teach you better judgment. Not everyone is able to be as high-minded or industrious as you are. Some people DO get caught up in jealousy, competition and pettiness…no matter who nice you are to them. In fact, the nicer you are, the more threatened they become. Stay away from these dark people and don’t try to “kill them with kindness.” Instead, focus on charitable efforts that make a difference for people less fortunate than you. Go build a home for Habitat for Humanity or serve meals to the homeless—a much better use of your time than getting sucked into petty drama.
You may have a little wakeup call at the November 13th Scorpio solar eclipse. November in general can be a little tricky, since communication planet Mercury is retrograde in Sagittarius from November 6-26. Lay low and don’t try to launch any big plans or make any statements during this time. Go back to the drawing board and triple-check your work before you submit it. Anything worth doing can wait until December!
Health & Wellness
You’re getting leaner and meaner than ever before, Sagittarius—or at least, you could. Your ruling planet Jupiter spends the first six months of 2012 in Taurus, your sixth house of health and fitness. This is a positive time to add fun exercise back into your life, upbeat activities like dance and Zumba, or (even better) outdoor activity like snowboarding, cross-country skiing and biking. Abundant Jupiter has a hearty appetite, so avoid extreme or deprivation-based diets (which never work and can do more damage in the long run) and overly rigid plans. Instead of subtracting, add—fresh produce and whole grains, that is. Make a game of finding cool farmer’s markets or treating yourself to a fresh-squeezed juice at least once a week.
A big change is coming to your personal life on February 3rd, when healing Neptune enters Pisces, your fourth house of home and family, until 2024. Neptune was here briefly last year (April 4-August 4), but now it settles in for the long haul after 13 years in Aquarius. Since 1998, you may have changed neighborhoods a few times, or spent a lot of time focusing on friendships and your social life. For this next chapter, you may become surprisingly domestic, with your family (especially mothers and children) playing a much bigger role. If you’re a die-hard urbanite, you might find yourself craving a quiet little country house or beachfront cottage—yes, you, Sag. Children could become a priority, and even those most independent Archers could get a touch of baby fever. Otherwise, your nesting instincts could kick into gear, and you may find yourself experimenting in the kitchen, sewing or doing crafts to unwind—an unlikely Martha Stewart if there ever was one. As busy as your career has kept you since 2010, you’re definitely craving a better balance of masculine and feminine energy now!
On October 3rd, structured Saturn moves into Scorpio until 2015, bringing maturity to your twelfth house of spirituality and emotional closure. Sags who have held a grudge against someone will want to do the deeper forgiveness work now. During this two-year cycle, you may deal with a loss or have to be the “strong one” for a family member who needs support, perhaps due to aging, an illness, or temporary tough circumstances. Your spirituality could become a new priority, and you may even decide to join a church, temple or organized religion (Saturn is a traditional planet that rules institutions). Or, you may follow the Sagittarian metaphysical leanings and head to an ashram, a meditation center or a yoga retreat. Saturn will be in harmonious sextile to spiritual Neptune for the rest of the year, so you may want to spend the holidays near water, getting in tune with your soul and emotions.
